At the quantum level, reality does not exist if you are not looking at it
Australian scientists have recreated a famous experiment and confirmed quantum physics's bizarre predictions about the nature of reality, by proving that reality doesn't actually exist until we measure it - at least, not on the very small scale....

Haven't read the article, but your quote is philosophically true at the classical level too.

It appears the neural net isn't learning too fast, it still confuses pigs and cats with dogs #googlephotos #wearesafefornow

In other totally unrelated news small country towns are now playing matinee showings of security theatre to keep the population constantly afraid of the boogeyman.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens: as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone. This government will conclusively turn the page on this failed approach."

It's neck and neck at the top but look who's bringing up the rear.

My reading between the lines at NBN meetings is that Telstra have the largest customer base on it. But yes, there'll be lots of people still on old ADSL exchanges dragging down their average - but whose fault is that? :P

The magnetic charging cradle has a battery in it so it can also be used as an extended battery, now that's a pretty sweet idea.

In related Androidwear battery news:

Last night as a test I didn't charge my Gear Live and instead installed Sleep as Android and let it monitor my sleep just to see how it fared. When I woke up the battery was still at very a respectable 33% (I put it on charge while I breakfasted, coffee'd, showered and dressed in which time it got back up to 96%) so I could easily monitor sleep and charge during the morning routine.

I don't think I'll do it again (the graph was pretty and it was interesting to see the periods of REM but I don't see the value) but it's nice to know the battery estimates I see in the Wear app of 24+ hours are accurate.
ASUS' second-generation smartwatch isn't the design revolution some will have been hoping for, but it's still the best-looking rectangular Android Wear device we've seen. ASUS didn't talk about its second Android Wear device, the ZenWatch 2, on-stage at its pre-Computex press conference today, but we were able to spend some quality time with the watch in Taipei today. In essence,...

I dunno, I think if I choose to leave my phone at home and go out only with my watch then I probably don't want the interruptions of calls :) But it's still nice to see the notifications on the off chance I might want to ping them via hangout/text if I suspect it's important.

+Martin Willett +TheVocalMale Go whinge on someone elses stream. You are both on the wrong side of history, just like owning slaves, racial equality, women's rights and now this. At some point you need to admit your religion is an utter joke and you should be ashamed of it.

Okay, colour me impressed. I couldn't see a way out of this for iiNet but I must say this is ingenious.
Summary:iiNet has said it will alert the customers who have had their names and details handed over to Voltage Pictures for alleged online copyright infringement and will work to provide pro-bono legal services to customers.

Even servers need work/life balance. Google clearly runs a sweatshop what with their services running 24x7, and the speed of the search results must mean they whip their servers into a constant frenzy. Those inconsiderate bastards!

Work/life for the person who gets paged (and budget for their position) when some part of the creaking infrastructure breaks, but you know that.
