Finally! I'm pleased to announce the release of BubbleUPnP 1.8.0, bringing full Chromecast support for playing audio, video and photos, whether located on your Android devices, local network or the cloud. Transcoding is optionnaly supported.
Playing Chromecast natively supported formats (MP3, AAC, Vorbis, MP4 and MKV (H264), images) is unrestricted
in the free version of BubbleUPnP. There is no "BubblePass" here.
For playing other media such as MOV, AVI, Xvid, MKV (DTS), WMA, FLAC, TS and many others, transcoding is required and it is provided by BubbleUPnP Server 0.8 now available (limited
to 20 mins per app launch in the free version):http://bubblesoftapps.com/bubbleupnpserver/
For video transcoding, it is recommended to install it on a powerful machine. The easiest way to get started is to install on Windows.
Audio Cast can be played to Chromecast (with 5-8s buffering), bringing Spotify streaming and much more to Chromecast without having to wait for specific apps to be updated. Of course this requires Xposed.
Enjoy this small video showing playing to Chromecast:
- local music stored on the phone
- a Google Drive video in the WMV format, transcoded by BubbleUPnP Server to a Chromecast compatible format
- photos stored on a Twonky server on the local network
- Spotify, using BubbleUPnP Audio Cast feature
Happy casting everybody!
