Well that's.. unexpected. I'm playing around with the <video> tag and seeing what replacing some static images with little videos looks like on a website only to discover doing so breaks random things on Chrome (javascript functions start misbehaving/not firing) but it all works perfectly on Firefox and IE.

As soon as this is available in Australia I'm getting it.
Energy Storage for a. Sustainable Home. Powerwall is a home battery that charges using electricity generated from solar panels, or when utility rates are low, and powers your home in the evening. It also fortifies your home against power outages by providing a backup electricity supply.

Ugh, Google Photos annoys the hell out of me. I take photos/screenshots of things as notes/reminders and I sort through them later in an attempt to keep my photo stream clean. However sorting through them is just an exercise in futility and frustration. I figured I could "move" them to a drive folder (now that finally my autosync'd photos show up there) and then delete them from the photo stream... nope, it deletes them both. So I have to copy them, and then move the copy and then rename the copy (because "copy of" annoys me too). It's so fracking annoying. Just make it easy for me to move things out of my photo stream that aren't photos but that I still want to keep! I can't be alone in using my camera as a quick way to take notes.

I found a slightly better way but it does involve more bandwidth. Multi-select all the "note" photos, select menu->Download (which results in a .zip file of them all), send the selection to the bin, extract the zip (or just upload said zip) into Google drive in the place for notes...

I love seeing these two wind turbines when I drive through Daylesford and I'm always so impressed that the Hepburn community actually owns them rather than just hosting them for some multinational. I guess it just makes sense then that they'd care for them like this.

It's been a few days since the iwatch made it into the hands of real consumers instead of professional reviewers who live in fear of being blacklisted by Apple and so never say a bad word against them. It turns out the hot air department of Apple was in full steam with the taptic engine in the iwatch and it's just another retina display (i.e. existing technology renamed to make it sound magical and new). As most of us already guessed it's just a vibration motor like every other one before it only linear instead of rotational and actually it might be slightly worse than the rotational vibration motors as people are complaining that it's very easy to miss even when set to maximum.

THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!

Won't somebody think of the hard working Aussie battler small businesses owners who are going to drop off the internet because the giant evil Google wants their mobile users to have a good mobile experience!
Google will prioritise companies that have "mobile-friendly" websites when people use the search engine on their smartphones or tablet computers.

Science trumps fairy tales
RELIGIOUS exemptions for childhood vaccinations will be scrapped to toughen Australia’s new “no jab, no pay’’ laws stripping welfare from parents who refuse to vaccinate their children.

I'm sure our dystopian future where we actually have bad lands into which we can banish such people isn't too far away now :)

Seems a shame not to release these new features to the early adopters first but I still look forward to getting them.
