Federal Trade Commission staffers have met with companies in recent months to examine industry concerns that Alphabet Inc.’s Google abuses the dominance of its Android smartphone software, extending a probe that began last year, according to people familiar with the matter.

Rumors have it that Google may be bringing the Play Store and Android apps to the Chrome OS and possibly Windows too.
A report in Ars Technica claims that Google will dramatically expand its App Runtime for Chrome (ARC) technologies to bring over one million Android apps to Chrome OS and Chromebooks. And to Windows, too.

A new feature in the latest version of Ubuntu called Snap could leak users personal data when used with X11.
Ubuntu 16.04 was released today, with one of the highlights being the new Snap package format. Snaps are intended to make it easier to distribute applications for Ubuntu - they include their dependencies rather than relying on the archive, they can be updated on a schedule that's separate from ...

Reuters is reporting that the FBI paid over $1M to unlock San Bernardino shooter's iPhone.
Federal Bureau of Investigation Director James Comey said on Thursday the agency paid more to get into the iPhone of one of the San Bernardino shooters than he will make in the remaining seven years and four months he has in his job.

My greatest pleasure in life is doing what people say I cannot do
Introduction
My name is Scott and I'm a geek. I can't remember when I became a geek. Maybe I was born a geek.

Maybe it was when I was a kid and I had the largest collection of Lego of all my friends (some of the things I built were pretty wild). Or maybe it was when I was a teenager and I repaired my first television or built an 'out-of-phase' speaker system.

No matter how you look at it, I guess I was always a geek. My passion for the last 17 years has been computers. Wether it be building computers, repairing computers or writing a blog about computers. I love anything to do with computers!

Had them come out and replace my cracked windshield a couple of weeks ago. Not only did they replace my windshield, but also fixed the outside molding and rear view mirror that was not properly reinstalled when the windshield was replaced last time.

Miracle Mile has been one of my favorite delicatessens for years now. I just had a Reuben and my wife had the Mac & Cheese. Both were great! The portions, as usual, were fairly large. Glad to see some things don't change.

Just had another great meal at DeFalco's. I have been enjoying their fantastic assortment of Italian foods since the mid '70s and have never been disappointed. Great subs!!!

Burgers were pretty good, but the fries are great! The fries are hand cut w/ skin and greasy as can be! They come salted, but I had to add more. Kind of pricey ($23 for 2), but the servings are big. I'll go back just for the fries.

Had Integrity Tree Service come out and trim up a couple trees and remove one that had over grown. They did a great job and cleaned up when they were finished. They even disassembled the post and rail fence that was next to the tree we removed and ground the stump completely out. Great job!
