How many of these have you heard? How many have you fallen for?

We're used to singing the Tantum Ergo at exposition and benediction, but did you know that is composed of the final two verses of the Pange Lingua, which St. Thomas Aquinas wrote for the Feast of Corpus Christi?

You're probably most familiar with the Pange Lingua from its use on Holy Thursday. But did you know that St. Thomas Aquinas composed it for the Feast of Corpus Christi?
A traditional English translation of the famous Eucharistic hymn composed by St. Thomas Aquinas for the Feast of Corpus Christi.

Yes, it's a procession in the Philippines. Good guess!

And the Tantum Ergo (http://catholicism.about.com/od/prayers/qt/Tantum_Ergo.htm) is composed of the final two verses of the Pange Lingua.

When is a Friday not a Friday? When it falls in the Octave of Easter.

Most Mondays, I serve Mass at noon at St Mary Oratory in Rockford, Illinois, a Traditional Latin Mass church administered by the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest. Today (June 23), the vestments were purple, which is probably not what most Catholics would have expected.

Do you know why? Tell us in the comments. And share this with your Catholic friends, and see if they can figure it out, too!

Here in the United States, today is the Feast of Corpus Christi, the Body and Blood of Christ. Did your parish have a Eucharistic procession today?

I love this antique Polish prayer card of Saint Aloysius. Today, of course, is his feast day. Learn more about the patron saint of youth, who burned so brightly in his short life.
