Good People DO Get Arrested
Introduction
I am a second-generation Fort Myers attorney. Growing up in Fort Myers, I was surrounded by the law and knew I always wanted to be a criminal defense attorney. In 1997, I interned for the local State Attorney’s Office and learned the crippling advantages prosecutors have against defendants. For the past 13 years, I have devoted myself to representing the accused. I truly enjoy people. Regardless of the charges, simple DUI or the most serious felonies, I will do everything in my power to get the best possible result for you.
I feel strongly about the attorney/client relationship. You should feel comfortable the attorney you hire understands your personal situation and listens to your concerns. The faster you can put these charges behind you, the faster you can get back to a normal life.
I have lived in Lee County for almost 40 years. I am a local lawyer with local knowledge in our criminal justice system. Most of my clients are referred to me by word of mouth. I encourage you to ask around about my reputation and call for a free consultation.

Native Americans and Marijuana
Last week the Justice Department announced that they will no longer prosecute the growing or selling marijuana on reservations despite it being illegal in the state in which the reservation is located. The legalization of marijuana will be placed in tribal hands and will vary from reservation to reservation.
The Native American Tribes were not campaigning for the legalization of marijuana, it was quite the opposite. Tribal leaders reached out to the Department of Justice in an effort to gain support of pot bans on reservations in states where recreational marijuana is legal. Alcoholism and drug addiction have damaged many reservations around the country therefore many tribal governments do not want members of the tribe easier access to marijuana.
Since the announcement only three tribes have peeked interest, it is not known which three and there is no plan on making that public at this time.
Could this be another way for tribes to make money? Perhaps they could have weed sleepovers or "weedcations"? They have dominated the gambling scene maybe the next big money maker is weed!

The “Decriminalization” of Marijuana: While Colorado and Washington State have legalized medical and recreational use of marijuana many others have solely legalized medical marijuana twenty three or (including but not limited to: California, Nevada, Arizona, and Illinois).  This November, Alaska, Oregon, Washington D.C. Guam, and our home state, Florida, will head to the polls and vote whether we should follow suit and legalize marijuana for medical use.
Some states have decriminalized small amounts of marijuana all together.  In Maryland, Ohio, and the District of Columbia officials have decriminalized the possession of 10 grams of marijuana.
The possession of 10 grams or less of marijuana is no longer a criminal offense in these states it is a civil penalty (imagine getting a seatbelt or speeding ticket). While this sounds like a win-win situation, it is not.   If you are caught possessing paraphernalia (i.e. pipe, bong, etc) you will be charged criminally.
So while you can walk around with 10 grams or less of marijuana you may not be in possession of a mechanism to smoke that 10 grams or less.  This sounds rather silly, but it is the law in the states where marijuana has been decriminalized.  Not sure that the lawmakers took this into consideration while making it legal to possess 10 grams of marijuana or less.

I have purchased two used vehicles from Dixie Buick GMC and have had great success with both, no major mechanical issues with either. Their sales department was very efficient in answering all of my questions. The service department at Dixie has always been fast and thorough. I am pleased with all aspects of Dixie Buick GMC and recommend their services to anyone in need of a dependable used car or five star service.
