TREE HAULIN'

(Feel free to share this post)

So I found this truck on a private property a couple of months ago. At the time the home owner wasn't home. I talked to the closest neighbour and left my card but never heard back. Since then I've made several attempts when in the area to see if the owner was home. Each time no luck! I am persistent and wasn't giving up so yesterday I decided to go for drive and thought I'd give it another try. The weather was bad and I was thinking for sure someone would be home this time. Nope. No one home, again! Argh! So I left but when I got to the first intersection I saw headlights coming from a couple miles to my right. Since almost no one lives in the area I continued [slowly] going straight though and thought 'if the vehicle turns towards the property it would most likely be the owners.' Sure enough, they turned down the road and into the driveway. So, like a stalker I turned my car around and bolted back. Long story short I ended up visiting with the owner and now have permission any time to come back. Which I plan to many times. I only got one shot of this truck as it was very windy and started to rain. There is also a very cool Farmall steel wheeled tractor and an early 50s Chevrolet car on the property that I want to photograph as well. Fall time is going to be a great time here. I will be going back soon.

A HOUSE WITH FLARE

(Feel free to share this post)

So I have been basically working non-stop since Sunday and last night I hit a wall. I could no longer work or really function in an efficient manor. Pretty much cooked! Plus, as I was getting a drink from the kitchen I saw the potential for a nice sunset. So I dropped everything and took off for an hour. Not wanting to travel far I chose this old house for my destination as it is only 10min away. Oddly, I haven't photographed this house much. Since a favourite abandoned house of mine, that was only a few minutes further, was burned down last fall this is my new "fav". So I plan to get many more shots of it. Here is one with some fun. Letting the flares go nuts. The sky proceeded to go crazy on me and I got some incredible colours. I will post those maybe later this week.

Introduction
From early on in my life have always had a creative mind. Whether spending countless hours with Lego and Mechano as a child to drawing throughout my school years to picking up a guitar at age 14 I've always had some form of creative output.

In recent years photography has become my main outlet for my creativity. I've also discovered the joy of photo explorations. Jump in the car with my camera and drive. Living on the prairies has me looking even harder for photo opportunities then those that live in more spectacular locations. This has really helped me push my creative thought processes. When your pallet is limited you are forced to be more creative. This is not a bad thing and why I recommend aspiring photographers to get in their vehicles and drive. One day, I hope to live in a more spectacular location. Until that day, I will make do with my surroundings.
