This week, Google launched a dedicated calendar app for the iPhone -  it’s a great calendar app that mines your Gmail account to automatically add events. Like many of Google’s products, it’s designed primarily for those who live in Google’s app ecosystem, though it will also sync with any of the other calendars on your iPhone, including Apple’s Calendar app. An interesting rethink on how a mobile calendar should perform.

How do we get better take up of CloudShare (aka GAFE) in schools, ie, teachers using Google Apps in pedagogy?

The question that needs answering is why should teachers use these tools? I believe they should but at times I find it hard to articulate when talking to principals and other education leaders.

I feel that it is because these tools allow us as teachers to get closer to the one to one pedagogy paradigm espoused by the constructivists. In a class of thirty children cloud tools allow for better automation of tasks and increases the time we as teachers can spend giving the instructional feedback that is so powerfully supported in John Hattie's research. With the right pedagogy it allows students to support each other and devolves learning responsibility from teacher to student.

After teachers are convinced of the value of a tool you only need to support their learning in how to use it and away they go.

This site doesn't do much apart from look really pretty...it does a great job at doing that! Worth a look. It might provide some inspiration for writing for some students.
