Most generous thing I've ever seen! Recent book donations to our library here in Ferguson.  I am so grateful for everyone who donated.  It will radically improve our collection in areas like dealing with emotions in a crisis, civil rights history, and civic engagement.

A heck of a turnout. Kudos to those involved.
I cleared out a pile of comic books and similar I'd "gone off" & was unlikely to reread,  and was surprised the library greeted me with open arms. I guess I'd thought them too lightweight.
I'd forgotten how similar stuff once got me past reading for school to reading for fun.

I've hardly been on here over the last two weeks, and I miss it.  Work has been a bit crazy.  I work at Ferguson Library in St. Louis.  We did a week-long teaching-related program last week (week before last? - whatever), and ended up on various news channels, which happened to be looking for positive Ferguson stories about the time the program got going.  This has resulted in me doing long days to help with the program, and then more this past week to handle the (very positive!) followup from all that.  I've spent my social media time paying attention to the library's twitter feed instead of my own G+ feed.

Upshot is, I am not going to look back at my feed; there's just too much.  If you needed or wanted to catch my attention in the past 2 weeks, and are wondering why I'm ignoring you, I'm not.  Please nudge me again.  Thank you for your patience.

I put this sign out today.  Thanks to Ferguson Optical for the idea; they had a similar sign. #Ferguson

For those that don't know, I'm the director at the Ferguson library.  I'm very happy that, so far, the library has been a quiet oasis for the people of Ferguson.

(Though, honestly, most of Ferguson is safe and quiet, especially during the day.)

Incidentally, would you listen to Vin Diesel talk about his Drow Demon Hunter?

ROUND TWO! Recent book donations to Ferguson library since the pics I took last week.  So generous!  Of particular mention this time is 3 publishers who sent a box of books each (some in the last round, some in this one): Simon & Schuster; Little, Brown, and Co; and Small Beer Press. Awesome!

Best Mexican restaurant I've found in the St. Louis area. Service is very, very fast. I am often surprised at how quickly the meal arrives, hot and well made. Free chips and salsa are excellent. Try the Vippy Special. Lunch prices are great.

Used to be my favorite place, especially with the great salsas. Has since discontinued some of my favorites. Still decent value and quality. Service iffy.

Home atmosphere, very friendly, good price, but food a bit on the cheap side.
