This week we are focusing on performance analysis using log data. Again we looked across our community of over 25,000 users and identified 5 ways in which people use log data to analyze system performance. As always customer data was anonymized and privacy protected. Over the course of the next week we will be diving into each of these area’s in more detail and will feature customers first hand accounts of how they are using logs to help identify...

DevOps is one of the latest software development movements. If you aren't familiar with it, the high level summary is that it's essentially the integration of IT Operations with the development process. This requires significantly more than just inviting Ops to your SCRUM.

A day after taking a deep dive into the art of performance testing, I was curious to explore some of the intellectual underpinnings surrounding the craft. After all, if one assumes testing is more than just a predefined series of motions designed to accomplish a specific task, then it is likely ...

Elon might be a tad pessimistic here, but he's not wrong -- besides for all that I support the advancement of many technologies that others fear & for all that I am a natural risk-taker, this is an area where I agree that deliberate caution is warranted -- not external regulation or restriction, but actual, group and individual, human caution.

That being said, where do I sign up to work on this project? (Especially if it's lead by Elon!)

Couldn't agree more.
I believe the lack of solution unification is an epidemic in the tech industry. Something that particularly stands out is that while more and more organizations are beginning to adopt the DevOps model by embracing continuous integration and collaboration, when it comes to the APM market serving these folks, some fundamental ideals of DevOps are thrown out the window — namely, the efficiency and collaboration aspects.

What Does ‘DevOps’ Mean to You? - +Scott Barber
The other day, at the bottom of an email, in the middle of an entirely unrelated string of communications, the person I was conversing with asked, “By the way… What does DevOps mean to you?”

The response I gave was, essentially, a spur-of-the-moment blog post.  Here it is...
