+Craig Carpenter is an absolute genius. Relay is the most amazing piece of software I've seen in a long time. A lot of companies have been trying to make the matter of creating graphics for social media simple, but this is the first one I've seen that absolutely nails it.

How so, you ask?

Relay has dozens of different templates, into which you plug in your own images and text (quotes, ads, testimonials, whatever). OK, cool -- other tools do that.

And then... with ONE CLICK, it rearranges/resizes for any other platform!

I spent like an hour the other day making all the different sizes I needed of my header image for Facebook, Twitter, G+, YouTube, etc. With Relay, I would have been done in seconds.

Great piece of work, Craig. I predict this will be amazingly successful.

It's free, but if you want to remove the watermark, it costs money ($12/mo., drops to $8 if you pay annually). This link will get you $20 off that:

One bright light today after learning of Prince's death -- poking around on YouTube led me to this. Well worth the 30-minute watch:

Why do regulators take such a deliberately adversarial relationship with direct sellers? And why do consumers use those cases to indict the industry? This is how innovative business models get worked out -- this is how we define where the boundaries are. And the same thing happens in other industries, just as in direct selling. We really have to put it in perspective.

This is awesome. Back when I first took Electronic Music in college, we did "musique concrète" by pinging tape recorders back and forth in order to get multiple copies of the same sound, then hand-cutting and splicing the tape. We've come a LONG way...

Here's a great example of some of the sketchy tactics used by some online reputation management firms. Putting aside the author's legal analysis, let's start with the fact that legal threats backfire more often than not. Somone like Chilling Effects or Popehat gets involved, and the problem escalates to far worse than it started. Unless you're truly prepared to take it to court quickly, this is a completely stupid tactic.
Recently, I got two identical emails from info@infringex.com sending me a "Notice of Infringement of Defamation." The notice informs me that a 2012 blog post--written by my perma-guest blogger, Ven...

Want to know the secret to successful social media? It's called the network effect. Very simply, the magic happens when other people start acting on your behalf PRO-actively, rather than just reactively.

Many people will respond if you ask them for a favor. But it’s far better if they proactively promote you and seek out opportunities for you. It takes a certain degree of trust and relationship strength for them to act proactively — that’s when you have leverage. If your relationships aren’t above that "action threshold", they’re not really serving you at full capacity.

Sure, having hundreds or thousands of online connections can help you "get the word out", but if no one is willing to take action, so what? Better to invest the time in building stronger relationships and earning people's trust, loyalty and attention.

Great idea for influencer outreach from +Ann Smarty . I've done this for years, sort of "just because" -- never really thought of it as a deliberate practice.

Shocking, sad and funny. I do wonder how many people went "Wait...WHAT?!?"

Can you think of a single word that's an oxymoron in and of itself?

How about "monosyllabic"?

It's ridiculous how much collateral damage Google is inflicting with their "war" on web spam. Business owners shouldn't have to figure out this kind of technical stuff -- but unfortunately, if you care about your site ranking in the search engines, you do.
Learn how you can get your Google Penalty revoked too and be prepared because it is a lot of work to come back from Google's wrath and be SEO compliant.

I've worked with New Standard IRA for years, and never had a problem getting paid. Then again, I always delivered what I promised. "Effective" is up to the customer to decide. Seems the only bad review here is from a guy who a) didn't satisfy his customer, and b) works for American IRA Counsel (which seems to be a low-grade competitor). Seems like a conflict of interest.
