Last weekend I finally found some time to publish a couple photos of the historical centre of Cluj on my website http://www.scip.be. Cluj-Napoca in the region Transylvania is the second largest city in Romania and has a rich history and beautiful buildings and monuments. Our company Bringme has an office in Cluj and I made this photos last year in September while visiting my Romanian colleagues.

The newest WWF book "Beeldverhalen" is available in the bookstores since this week and offers you the most amazing and unique photographs from nature. Every year the World Wildlife Fund organizes a photo competition together with Frans Lanting, one of the most famous and respected nature photographers in the world. Out of the 13,000 photos submitted, the 170 best were selected. Three of my photographs are also published in this book.

Every photo has been carefully selected for the story it tells. Small and big stories, moving and impressive. Each and every one of these images tell more than a thousand words. This beautiful and exclusive photo book can be ordered via http://www.wnf.nl/beeldverhalen. With your donation you will help protecting nature areas and wildlife.

Yesterday evening I was invited to the opening of the photo salon of photo club Renovat in Sint-Truiden and the proclamation of the photo contest "Nature in Limburg". It turned out that I won the first prize of this contest with my photo of the Blekerheide in Lommel. Thanks Limburg province and photo club Renovat for the great price! Renovisie 2017 can be visited this weekend in CC De Bogaard in Sint-Truiden. The expo of their own photographers, the photo show and images of the two Indonesian guest photographers are beautiful. http://www.renovat.be/renovisie_17.html

In November 2017 my photo of a “Funny sifaka” was one of the finalists and finally highly commended (top 5) in the category Comedy in the international photo contest Nature Photographer of the Year 2017. (NPOTY 2017)

I made this photo two years ago in Madagascar. In a canyon in Isalo national park we encountered one Verreaux's sifaka which really wanted to attract our attention. He was jumping around, hanging up-side down in the trees, hopping and rolling on the ground and he came to touch my photocamera three times. The result was a couple of funny photos, especially this one.

The photos of the finalists will be exposed during the Nature Talks Photo Festival in Ede (Netherlands) on November 11th and 12th. Afterwards these images will be exposed in several museums, public places and companies.

The population of roe deers is the Lowlands (Belgium & Netherlands) is increasing. But even though they are spotted more often and in different biotopes, they mostly remain shy animals that are difficult to observe for a long time. The roe deer is Europe's most common deer, they are between 100 and 140cm tall and weigh between 20 and 35kg. The past summer I really started observing and photographing them in the nature areas in Aarschot and Scherpenheuvel-Zichem. I did many walks in the same area and especially at dawn I went out well-camouflaged trying to photograph them. A small series of my most beautiful photos are now online on my website: http://www.scip.be/index.php?Page=PhotosBlog

Last week I received the new National Geographic block calendar for 2018. The National Geographic editors gave a photo assignment each month and asked the enthusiastic Flemish and Dutch photographers to submit their images. For this calendar the editors made a selection of the 365 most beautiful images. The result is a versatile palette of beautiful images, from places around the world, special people and impressive natural phenomena. I am very pleased that 7 of my photos were selected. The calendar is available for 15 euros via the National Geographic webshop and also in many other (online) bookshops: https://www.natgeoshop.nl/shop/kalenders/scheurkalender2018

Some months ago I had a great encounter with some red fox cubs (vulpes vulpes). Fox kits are always very cute and playful when they are around their brothers and sisters. These foxes weren't shy at all and I was able to lay down to get a nice viewpoint and photograph them near the water and in the sand dunes. A small collection of the most beautiful photos are now on my website: http://www.scip.be

The little owl (Athene noctua) is one of the smallest owls (21 to 27cm) in the Lowlands. The little owl is mainly nocturnal and can be found in a wide range of habitats including farmland, woodland, heathland, … It feeds on insects and small vertebrates like mices. Some weeks ago I was able to photograph them from a hide just before sunset. A small series of photos of the cute little owls with their bright yellow eyes is now published on my website http://www.scip.be

In the June issue of the South African AA Traveler magazine one of my photos was published. For the cover photo of the 'hiking heaven's edge' article, they used my picture of a sunset in the Simien Mountains. The article tells about the breathtaking and unique landscapes in the Simien Mountains in Ethiopia and the rare gelada baboons that live there.

I'm very pleased that my photo "Sunrise in Altai Mountains" is selected for today's Daily Dozen of National Geographic. The photos with the most votes will be considered for publication in one of the future issues of the international National Geographic magazine. So votes are really appreciated. Thanks.
