Technology Saves: Queensland ID Scanners and the Cost of Nightlife Violence Imagine this.

You run a nightclub, bar, or pub. You’re getting a decent amount of patrons. And you’re in Queensland. Suddenly, since the Queensland Safe Night Out Strategy has rolled out (actually, it has just begun this month), you are required to use ID scanners to read the ID cards of each patron who wants to get in.

But ID scanners aren't the cheapest pieces of hardware around – and we're not talking about handheld ones either. We’re referring to non-portable scanning systems that quickly and accurately scan a patron’s ID. These ID scanning systems are also capable of being networked with other ID scanners, such that a person banned from one venue won’t be allowed to enter other venues in the area. But, again, the initial cost of these systems can seem just a little high.
But what should be realized is that they are actually an investment that will let your venue earn more in the long run. Even if you haven't been mandated by the Queensland Safe Night Out Strategy to set up an ID scanner at your venue, there are good business reasons for purchasing ID scanners and using them at your entertainment locale.

These ID scanners will, in the first place, stop trouble at the door. If some unruly patron has been bounced from another club, he or she might want to go to your place (and likely cause trouble there, too). Not good. But if your ID scanners have been connected with the card reading systems at other venues, you can easily identify the troublesome patron and prevent access to that individual.
You can probably guess what will happen in the days, weeks, and months that follow. Your venue will slowly gain a reputation for being safer and more enjoyable than the places that don't use ID scanning technology. Customer retention and loyalty will be strengthened dramatically. And, of course, customer loyalty is huge: loyal customers will be quite likely to tell their friends and family about your awesome venue, and the number of patrons you receive will go up quite nicely.

And there are other good reasons for setting up ID scanners at your entertainment venue. They smooth out the wrinkles in the card checking process, making the line at your venue move along faster and more efficiently. Since sophisticated ID card checking technologies are able to scan IDs in less than a second, there’s absolutely no hassle when it comes to checking the IDs of patrons.
This, again, will boost customer retention and loyalty, and it will garner your venue a reputation for efficiency and patron satisfaction.
So maybe you don't have to get an ID scanning system, despite the Queensland Safe Night Out Strategy. Still, it wouldn't hurt to consider setting up such a system. There'll be more safety at your place, and more enjoyment – all the hallmarks of a great night out. Your patrons will be happier, and chances are that you will be, too.

Lockouts are not the answer...why punish Venues and the  masses who are well behaved due to a few out to cause trouble.
