Remember When We Just Hit Publish?

Remember the good old days of blogging? Come up with something to say, write it down, hit Publish, and onto the next piece whenever that came to mind.

Now we have to worry about content authority, Hummingbird, Panda, Penguin, content overkill, content optimization, etc, etc.

It seems we spend so much time worrying on the presentation, we lose track of the real reason we blog - love.

Love for the content; love for the experience; love for the audience; love for the reason to publish.

Sometimes we need to say "Screw you, content rules", and Just. Hit. Publish.

A New Look at the Marketing Mix: Paid, Owned, Granted, Leased, Earned [great chart to download inside!]
bit.ly/1IuBYTW

The paid-owned-earned (POE) media model hasn’t kept up with the times. While it did a good job of describing traditional media, it has done a poor job of accommodating most digital channels, which have generally been stuffed awkwardly into the owned media bucket.

+Chad White provides ideation around proposed new framework to help marketers’ describe their various channel activities and help bring greater clarity to their work.

In order to create a cohesive brand, your branding must extend from your website and onto your social media accounts. You want readers or customers to be able to stumble across your social media profiles and immediately know they're yours. http://bit.ly/1aOoUM4

Social Media Marketing
That lady behind you in the queue at the supermarket, the one looking at her phone right now, has 30 seconds to check her social media stream before starting to empty her trolley onto the conveyer belt at the checkout.
She doesn’t have time to read some long, detailed, blog post that you spent all day writing.
She needs to skim.  She’s going to skim. She wants a visual titbit, a lovely photo with a catchy headline and an indelible bullet point or two of text.  That’s it.
It’s no good taking your time painting a masterpiece for this woman. You need to be firing a succession of paintball pellets straight at her forehead.
The great thing about paintball is that even if you miss with one or two shots as long as you keep firing you’re going to hit her sooner or later.

39 Small Wins To Achieve Big Blogging Goals http://howtomakemyblog.com/achievements/

Success in blogging and content marketing doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a lot of effort and a commitment over a long period of time. It is a marathon and not a sprint. So how do you make success happen and achieve your blogging goals? A good beginner advice for finishing a marathon is to break up the race into smaller segments and set small milestones in order to make the distance feel more manageable. Same works for your blog. Accumulating many smaller milestones and tiny wins regularly over a period of time will lead to big results and you achieving your blogging goals down the line. These are the examples of small achievements that you should aim to achieve for your own blog:
