Yikes, that's a harsh view. As a girl who did go into CS, I think it went differently for me because I didn't realize until partway through college that it was even unusual for a girl to be in computer science. Back in middle school, a friend of mine, also a girl, said she was going to make a web page. I thought it sounded cool and discovered gurlpages.com. My dad was into programming and computers as a hobby, so when plain HTML became too limiting for me and my Anita Blake Vampire Hunter fan site, haha, he suggested this thing called PHP and MySQL. I loved web development and working with PHP, and when I went into college computer science seemed like the major that would most likely teach me more about PHP, MySQL, and things like them. 
There's been much discussion lately on the web about the dismal # of women choosing Computer Science. I thought I'd go straight to the source and ask, you know, a woman, who did not choose CS. My wife. Her theory on gender imbalance in CS. (I had to transcribe as quickly as I could, ...

I was making a weaker statement;  I meant "not gender-specific" in the sense that dealing with the embodiments of that stereotype is pretty uniformly awful for everyone.  There really aren't many such creatures, but ... yeah. 

The larger gender and gaming matter isn't a discussion that fits in a comment box.
