It's the holiday season! I know you don't need me to remind you of that.

But chances are that your best intentions of "eating healthy" will fall through because of the said holidays.

So I created a way for that NOT to happen. PRESENT is an amazing resource designed to help you remain calm, healthy and even happy during the holiday season!

It's 50% of right now so I'd buy it right away. :)

Don't you LOVE moving your body in the great outdoors? I feel so blessed that I get to play in the mountains when I feel like it!Don't you LOVE moving your body in the great outdoors? I feel so blessed that I get to play in the mountains when I feel like it!

I got up this morning at 4am, met up with a friend to carpool to a trailhead before traffic and the trail become crowded.

It was a chilly morning (elevation does that) and the views were gorgeous. We climbed just shy of 3000 feet I'd say and had a great, stimulating conversation.

What did I eat? An all organic sprouted grain sandwich (almond butter, a little jam, raw honey, pink sea salt, ginger, cinnamon). Taking care of the adrenals, reducing inflammation, quality nutrients (calories). I had chia seeds and raw honey in my water bottles.

The trail was pretty technical running back down. And my quads were feeling yesterday's 14,036 foot descent. Tomorrow morning will be interesting as I again train my body+mind+spirit on another tall mountain.

It feels so incredible to be in good health, strong, stable! I don't take my wellness for granted. My wish is that ALL may know they are worthy of this too.

Love+wellness to you, friend.

Is sun the problem or commercial sunscreens? Here are some of the health harming ingredients found in commercial sunscreens. (Many of these are known carcinogens.)

Para amino benzoic acid
Octyl salicyclate
Oxybenzone
Cinoxate
Dioxybenzone
Phenylbenzimidazole
Homosalate
Menthyl anthranilate
Octocrylene
Methoxycinnamate
Parabens

With sunscreen season in full swing, please take time to read this.

Conventional sunscreens are worse than the sun! Did you know we actually NEED the sun? It gives our bodies Vitamin D2 and D3. Humans do not make Vitamin D2 and you can't get it from food either. (PubMed)

Additionally, 50% of the population is Vitamin D deficient and this deficiency is linked to mood disorders, obesity, cancer, hypertension. (PubMed)

I toiled on a organic farm 6 days a week, 14+ hour days for 16+ years, worked in all conditions and we never wore sunscreen. We ate organic food...yes, a nutrition rich "diet" acts as sunscreen! Also, clothes act as a sunscreen too.

And check out EWG recent sunscreen guide too. >> http://www.ewg.org/sunsafety/

We've got to rethink what we're bombarded with in the media/ads/marketing.

Get some sun*! It will do wonders for your health, mood, outlook!

*Be smart with sun exposure of course. Don't bake out in it. Cover up after 20 minutes. But don't fear the sun. It's there for a reason.

I recommend using Climb On Products sunscreen. Super safe for all ages (babies included), the ocean, and environment. >> http://skinourishment.com/products/spf-30-mineral-sunscreen?nosto=collectionpage-nosto-1

Live freely!

You missed a yummy plant-based, organic meal tonight! :) How gorgeous does this look?! And it's tastes even better.

Balsamic Glazed Portobello +Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods Hemp Hearts sandwich. Delicious.

It's such an incredible feeling to know I'm nourishing my body with nutrient-dense foods that enhance my training, my life, my body, my skin, my planet, my future generations....

For me, ultra endurance training involves really good food and really good workouts. So in love with this lifestyle.

How about you?

Still happy from yesterday's random marathon I decided to run. :)

Anyone want to guess what marathon/ultramarathon race this was for me?
A few days ago I realized there was a marathon happening in an area I was traveling in. How could I not run it? Registered Thursday evening for the race. I was so stoked about it!

So I got up at 2:15am this morning and ran 26.2 miles. Just like that. 😄

It's incredible to be fit in mind+body to have the ability to be able to "just go run" 26.2 miles without blinking an eye. I don't say that to brag; I write that because I'm a big believer in running // living the talk.

This is one of the reason I love about being healthy+strong in mind+body+spirit!

I've been experimenting with my training recently and today was proof that it's going well. There are some tweaks I'm going to make. I love seeing what works for my body and the outcome of it. Ps. more miles doesn't always mean a better / faster race. I've also conditioned / trained my body+mind in a few different ways. I've a feeling some of your would be supposed at my weekly mileage. Perhaps I'll write about it.

Today during the race I also did another "experiment" in the mental department. I believe it's valuable and I'll share about it soon!

Refueled right after the race with +Manitoba Harvest Hemp Foods and of course turmeric. Love giving my body real nutrients to repair, recover and prevent disease! #organic #nonGMO #plantbased

For now though I need to wrestle my sweaty sports bra off and take a nap. 😜

I have had this stair climb on my list for a while now and I finally got to do it today. 3 times in fact! Really great panoramic views of Los Angeles.

How did you move your body today?

So many things bring me joy and happiness.

- running on the trails for hours on end
- lifting heavy (and heavier then the boys sometimes 😃)
- seeing others get well in mind+body+spirit
- helping others detox many areas of their life
- walking barefoot in the grass, sand, dirt (once an organic farm girl, always an organic farm girl)
- smelling fresh flowers
- marveling at creation and this beautiful earth
- adventuring
- practicing yoga
- baking from scratch with real food ingredients!

I've been in the kitchen since I can remember. Creating new dishes. Experimenting. I was about 4yrs old when I made my first cultured yogurt dish with raw honey and raisins! It probably wasn't tasty but I still remember the feeling of creating deep in my bones.

Baking from scratch back then (80's and 90's) for me involved grinding organic wheat berries from scratch, using raw honey from 50 gallon buckets and lugging them around the kitchen. This is just one reason I've been strong since a young age! I learned the Rumford was the only safe baking powder as the others contained aluminum. Collecting the brown eggs from the chicken coop and washing the poop off them. That was a fun job!

I had an organic bakery for 4 years all made from scratch, ingredients from our organic farm. It was a ton of work. Like 20 hour days. (Probably why running 100 milers has been easier to adjust to.) but I relished every minute of it. Seeing the delight of when people took a bite. And requested more. I'm in my mid thirties now and I still get a kick out of baking and cooking from scratch. Rarely using a recipe book. A little of this. And a little of that. It's in my blood.

Today though, I don't grind my flour from wheat berries. :)

This afternoon I made all organic chocolate chip cookies from scratch with a little 4yr old girl. I hope she feels the joy from it as much as I do.

Regardless of the negative habit you want to change (smoking, drinking alcohol, eating unhealthy products, an inactive lifestyle), there's a reason why it's being done.

What's the behavior pattern for when you are going to do_____. Is it stress? Out of boredom? Habitual? Because "I deserve it"? Or the "everything in moderation" lie? Unhealed emotional/physical trauma? Memories?

Something drives our behaviors (good or negative). And figuring out that something can shed a huge spotlight on what you desperately want to change.

There's a reason why we do what we do so dig deep to figure out what's driving this behavior. And then start making positive habits to have positive behaviors.
