I'm so excited to announce that Companions’ Tale is now a "Project We Love!"

I'm deeply grateful to my team that has made this project possible, all of the friends and gamers who have been so very supportive and all of the backers who have decided to support this project.

"A historical setting for a larp can be a wonderful thing, but it can also be a painful and betraying thing. You can make sure that you’re giving your design ideas, and the play aspirations of your larpers, the maximum opportunity to express themselves by engaging with history critically, by putting in the exploratory work around it, and by looking for stories that haven’t been told."
This is from the upcoming Knutepunkt-book -- here in web form. Many thanks to +Grethe Strand and +Sarah Lynne Bowman for editing, and to +Elizabeth Lovegrove and +Becky Annison for thoughts and suggestions!

Yay!
Yesterday, I launched the Kickstarter for Companions' Tale, a game of storytelling and mapmaking.

This morning, I woke up to see it was 95% funded - this is amazing! The support has been amazing, and I can’t wait to take things further.

About the game: “The players take on the roles of Companions and tell the story of a hero. The hero is a cipher who is viewed through the opinionated lens of the Companions that the players control. Create the Hero’s journey and learn: Who is your hero?”

Soon, I’ll be revealing the stretch goals I have in mind - expanded ways to play the game - but at this moment I’m packing and preparing to get to Dreamation, a convention in NJ this weekend, where I’ll be running the game for others.

This looks exciting!
Companions’ Tale is a story and mapmaking game that +Laura Simpson has been working on for years. We've just launched the Kickstarter! With your help, we can make this real!

About the game: “The players take on the roles of Companions and tell the story of a hero. The hero is a cipher who is viewed through the opinionated lens of the Companions that the players control. Create the Hero’s journey and learn: Who is your hero?”

This game means so much to us, and I’m glad it’s finally here. Please check out the Kickstarter page, and share widely!
