Oatmeal Raisin Banana Bars - #SundaySupper
Generally, when it comes to baking for a crowd, I try to steer away from common allergies like nuts, dairy and eggs. Gluten and wheat are not generally a problem in our family or my workplace, with the exception of one second cousin, but I know of a few sev...

Camperless S'mores
Happy Canada Day everyone!! We up North may be winding down on our national birthday, but this "national day of hooky" is just the first in what looks to be a host of excuses to embrace Summer sun, heat and food! One of those quintessential Summer treats is...

Sesame Orangeyaki Stirfry with Tofu
I've obviously been on a total citrus-teriyaki kick these days, trying to achieve a balance of the tastes and textures my fellow veggie and tofu loving mom and I both enjoy. When it's just the two of us for dinner, stir frying is generally the method of the...

Purely Peach Jam (Toast Topper #61)
Arguably one of the best (and here, at least, the most anticipated) aspects of Summer life is the abundance of prime, fresh produce - especially fruit. Things like peaches just don't taste right any other time than mid-July through August, when they're plum...

Saucy Simmered Teriyaki Tofu Bowl
Remember how I promised that I'd share some of the other things I did with San-J's Orange and Teriyaki cooking sauces? Like 3 weeks ago?? Well, I finally managed to rescue the photos and recipes from hard disk death and have the original dish ready for you ...

Teriyaki Tofu "Jerky"
Tofu gets a fair amount of use in the household these days, given that both my mom and I have decided that the white block of concentrated vegan protein is not the creepy, gelatinous, blah hippie food we originally made it out to be. No, thanks to a decent ...

Triple Berry Pie Pockets (#RecipeRedux)
Pie seems to be one of the quintessential Summer desserts. It's odd, really, since there is usually a fair bit of indoor prep work, oven time and occasionally stovetop use involved - not to mention the fact that for almost all pastry recipes the ingredients...

Nibbed Caramel Blondies #CreativeCookieExchange
Some days you really need an indulgent-tasting, sweet treat. If you have kids finishing school in the next week or two, you know what I mean - everyone is in the "Summer" mentality already, which means that by the time you get the family home, fed, homework...

Bringing Good Taste to Healthier Food
Introduction
I started my "working life" as a holistic and allopathic nutritional consultant with a love of cooking. Teaching the value of wholesome meal choices to families became close to my heart after I battled a long history of struggles with weight and health, and the passion for teaching led me into where I am now. My blog, which focuses on "bringing good taste to healthier food" through creative use of whole grains, fresh produce and acknowledging the importance of the occasional treat, also features a wealth of "specialty diet" friendly recipes for gluten-, egg-, dairy- and sugar- tree nut-free items that everyone can enjoy without alienating those who need them.

Overall, I want to bring back the desire for good quality, homemade, (mostly) healthy food into the hearts and kitchens of families so that the next generation will be less box-reliant than mine. I firmly believe that any “homemade” food, even when labelled as "naughty", is a more wholesome treat than pre-packaged, cookie-cutter junk. With the knowledge of good food (and how to cook good food) as a base, a healthy lifestyle can follow, and then anything is possible!

Today, my love for teaching is branching out even further - I'm in Montessori training to solidify my love for the system and working with children and families!
