I stopped by the Olympic village to check out the new beaver dam today - it's a pretty impressive structure, complete with salvaged 2x4s!

If you haven't already, be sure to share your feedback and ideas for the next 5 years of the City's Greenest City action plan. I advocated for more emphasis on sustainable stormwater management, protection of surface water quality, and enhancing biodiversity in the city. https://www.talkvancouver.com/R.aspx?a=421

We are delighted to share our latest project Kinsmen Park. Unless you are in Saskatoon you might not have an opportunity to visit so we created this short video.

Here's an opportunity to give feedback about the future of the False Creek Flats - survey closes Thursday.
We’re creating a plan with the Vancouver Economic Commission to help the Flats flourish as a more productive, sustainable, and connected area of our city.

I like the idea of the narrow, stacked rainwater collection system, and it's a unique concept to combine it with a living wall. Supplemental irrigation would still end up being required, though. I'd like to see how it looks in a few years...

That almost looks fake.  This reminds me of this prepared for the WE:Vancouver exhibit at the Vancouver Art Gallery a few years ago.

I was lucky to watch these "marine wolves" fishing for salmon the other morning on pacificwild.org's live webcam. Here's an accompanying article in National Geographic about them.
At Canada’s western edge, beachcombing wolves swim between islands, eating whatever the sea serves up.

Climate change and tree selection: it's important to pick more species that are tolerant of heat, drought, and wind.

An Edmonton op-ed piece that talks about the value of initiatives like the proposed Aboriginal Art Park at QE Park
Wouldn’t it be great if the next time you had out-of-town visitors, they asked you to take them to the End of the World instead of the West Edmonton Mall? That may actually be a possibility, now that the City and Belgravia Community League are considering turning the locally named popular lookout, located atop the river bank on Saskatchewan Drive in Belgravia, into a bona fide scenic viewpoint.
