Recently I’ve been working on a side project. After several months of heartburn and sleepless nights, we are finally getting ready to launch! I’m a little nervous, as with any new endeavor, but I couldn’t be more excited that it’s all coming to life. Launching will take all of my energy to deliver, and afterwards there will be a lot of messes to clean up. So, this is my last week before taking an extended leave from my current role. Don't worry, I'll be back later when everything is a bit more mature. ;)

Thought you guys might be interested in this ;) Make sure to follow +Google Self-Driving Car Project for further updates.

Fully autonomous driving has always been the goal of our project, because we think this could improve road safety and help lots of people who can't drive.

We're now developing prototypes of vehicles that have been designed from the ground up to drive themselves—just push a button and they'll take you where you want to go! We'll use these vehicles to test our software and learn what it will really take to bring this technology into the world.

Baby Phoebe came exactly two weeks ago on #piday  3/14/15 at 8:25am – she missed the magic moment by an hour and a minute ;) She's doing fantastic, and we're even managing to get a little bit of sleep!

Challenge accepted, +Teresa Zazenski...  #throughglass  (don't try this at home, I'm a professional ;) Next up: +Jason Salas+Salil Pandit, and +Paul Wilcox. You've got 24 hours to douse yourself and donate $10, or skip the ice and donate $100!

A few words on the ice bucket challenge for the skeptics: it's controversial and when it first started circulating, I was on the fence about what I'd do if challenged. You've heard the arguments. It didn't have anything to do with ALS at the start. People waste water to avoid giving more to charity, or to show what a good person they are by participating. If they donate, it could hurt their other giving for the year. We should reward good causes, not just good marketing. The latest one I've seen is that the money raised through this challenge pales in comparison to federal budget cuts and it's much more meaningful to vote.

But the power of the virality of this movement is undeniable – just look at how much awareness has been raised over a serious and tragic, but relatively unknown, illness. Even if hating on the ice bucket challenge is trendy, it's doing good things.

So. This challenge was done in a drought-friendly way using water collected while the shower was warming up the day before, and dumped on the roots of a growing fruit tree. I didn't buy ice or spend any other money to make this video. Since it wasn't technically ice water, I still donated the full amount. I gave a quarter of that amount to the ALS Association, who are doing great work; but the rest to other medical charities working to find cures for other illnesses that have affected people close to me, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and depression – all highly rated on Charity Navigator. And I definitely don't want a pat on the back for donating (you won't see my face or hear any names in the video) – I just hope for us all to consider what we can do to help important causes, not just today or this weekend, but all the time. Being challenged was a strong reminder to me that I can do more.

Viewfinder is pretty much my favorite thing ever... totally changes the way I take photos!

Thanks to you, Glass just got even better

The Explorer Program has been an exciting ride, and as a result of your feedback, we’ve picked up the pace on making more improvements. In the last year we’ve made over a dozen software and several hardware updates. For example, we’ve improved battery life by over 20%, made voice search 10% faster and brought you frames, shades and prescription support. With I/O about to kick off, we wanted to share some of the most recent improvements we’ll be rolling out. You asked for…

an easier way to frame your shots, so we bring you viewfinder. When you say “ok glass, show the viewfinder” you’ll see white L’s in the four corners of your Glass screen. You can then either take a photo by saying “ok glass, take a picture,” with a wink, or by pushing the camera button.

more Google Now cards, so we launched two new ones to remind you where you parked your car and let you know when packages are coming your way. Stay tuned for more to come.

better performance, so Glass will now start shipping with 2GB of RAM.

We can’t wait to hear what you think – let us know in the comments.

LOVE these frames... so excited!

Today we’re announcing the DVF | Made for Glass collection, a collaboration that brings chic eyewear designs by iconic American fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg to the Glass Explorer Program. These new designs build on the style choices we gave Explorers when we launched the Titanium Collection in January.

Starting June 23, you can purchase the collection exclusively on +NET-A-PORTER and google.com/glass, which includes five new frames and eight new shades to give you even more ways to make Glass your own. At that time, you’ll also be able to purchase the Titanium collection on +MR PORTER

In 2012, we gave you an insider’s view of the +DVF Spring 2013 runway show with DVF [through Google Glass]. We’re honored to collaborate with her talented team again. Like Diane says, “technology is your best accessory.”
