I would like to get this in, before people start the chatter about how the guy was mentally ill (he was) and that caused the crash... that the stigma about mental illness is why that plane crashed. The stigma is what caused that pilot to hide it from his employers, so that they did not know how he was suffering and struggling. So they did not know that they needed to support him through treatment and hold his place for him so he could stay employed. The stigma and the shame that it causes - and a brutal economic regime that lets people lose everything if they need to take a break from "being productive" - is what stops people for reaching out for the help they need, and acknowledging the limits that they have at least for this moment.
So if my newsfeed starts to be full of commentary that casts mentally ill people as the scary Other, I will have to edit my friends list and you will know why.
Sometimes I realize that, in spite of all my hopeless 13 year old expectations, I really do lead an interesting life.
Here's one of our older episodes.

Saturday afternoon at 2:pm will find us playing a house concert in Medford – 246 High Street, to be exact, though for space considerations, if you’d like to attend that one, please head over to the FaceBook event and RSVP. We’d rather not make the Fire Marshals or our event hosts cry with this one if possible.
And on Sunday night, we’ll be doing a half hour set at the Plaza Azteca, beginning at 7:30. ( http://murder-ballads.com/?event=worcester-ma-open-mic-at-plaza-azteca ) We’ll have T shirts and CDs available for both shows, and we’d honestly love to see some of our online fans in person if any of you can get to either show.
And if you can’t? Well please consider shilling the shows for the benefit of what friends you might have who COULD get to the shows, but might not otherwise think to go. We’re a small band, and neither of us is very good at the advertising end of things – we need all the help we can get!
Cheers, and I hope to see some of you this weekend!
Normally I am Not A Fan of substituting an all purpose flour blend for wheat flour. It rarely does anything but fail. But in this case, there is so little flour in the original recipe, and all it really does is hold the chocolatey goodness in place, so the straight substitution works.
Note that these are serious special occasion brownies. They use a lot of cocoa, and if you can afford expensive cocoa, it just kicks them up to major gourmand territory. Throw some dried cranberries or cherries in there, or some hazelnuts... OMG. I don't care if Martha Stewart herself came with elaborate petitfours and pastries, your brownies will be the first thing to disappear and the thing people remember the longest.
Also, I am dying of laughter.
