The event that's been a very long time in the making

Heaven for transport nerds like me. Miss it and miss out!

Are you brave enough to explore an abandoned tube station?

RSVP: http://goo.gl/aL1RiF

Abandoned since 1994, access to Aldwych Station has been strictly limited… until now.

We’re offering 44 City Experts the unique opportunity to take part in a rare Aldwych Station tour.

Quietly hidden away beneath the busy streets of London, we’ll be exploring the underground labyrinth of hidden passages, long-forgotten tunnels and the deserted walkways of a station that was once frequented by Londoners for almost 100 years.

Feeling brave enough to join us? This event is open to qualified City Experts (sign up at g.co/cityexpert) who write at least 5 new reviews on Google. We’ll send you a confirmation email by 21st to let you know you’re on the list.

We’ll be taking two separate groups to venture into the station; one at 11am, and one at 1pm. Photography inside the station is not permitted, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled and make this journey into the tube one you’ll never forget!

In honour of the wonderful Kate Bush hitting the stage for the first time in 35 years, a great doc on prep for her '79 tour (work ethic, what work ethic?)

Oh so in favour.

Fancy a dip?

It looks like King's Cross could soon be the site of a new 'natural' bathing pond. If the project goes ahead, the development could be in use as soon as July!: goo.gl/XQ2i1z

Not a huge supermarket but an impressive range of world foods - from Lebanese spices to West African goodies and Indian paneer which I've struggled finding elsewhere. Avoid going in the early evening though, as it's too busy.

I'd recommend the (awfully named) Ladies Who Leisure package for a birthday treat or special occasion; you get spa access, facial and a back massage. Spa very clean and nice, with sauna, dry and wet steam rooms and freezing plunge pool - I'd have liked access to their bigger pools. Treatments were good but a little heavy handed - and my therapist talked the whole way through my supposedly relaxing facial!

Fun US-style diner with pastel retro decor and amazing brunches. I chose the pancake special; absolutely huge with eggs, yoghurt, coffee, bagel and pancakes with syrup! The bagel, especially, was really good; great choice for students/cash-strapped travellers because you could make a meal here last all day.

Cute traditional cafe that is a bit dark and gloomy inside (badly-organised queue for brunch buffet next to multiple lit candles is a recipe for disaster) but worth it for the sunny terrace and the wondrous buffet. Pancakes, eggs, yoghurt, cereal... tons of side options and all for under a UK tenner. The cake stand outside is very tempting, too.

Corner Room's lunch deal (£19 for two courses, £23 for three) is a well-kept secret; a shame, as we turned up at 3pm and had the room to ourselves. The food is, as you'd expect, beyond spectacular. Inventively displayed and full of unusual, delicious tastes. I went for the Nordic-sounding charred and pickled veg with ricotta to start; a fairyland little bowl of tiny beetroot and slivers of onion smeared with cheese. Perfect. My main of cod, wild garlic and broccoli was even better; beautifully light, with cod skin tempura that could have floated off the plate, and a dense wild garlic puree. Pudding was good but not as stunning as the others; strawberry sorbet with black olive tapenade and shortbread. For food this amazing, the price is great. On the downside, the staff weren't very welcoming to my friend's baby, and hovered over us for the last thirty minutes. We'd have had post-lunch coffees but felt they wanted us to leave - a small price to pay for such a tasty meal.

Small and slightly scuzzy but ever so cool bar. You might have to stand on busier nights as the tables are few but the music's good, the beers are crafty and the lovely staff mix up a mean amaretto sour. They do tacos, too - the perfect late night drinking snack. My pork tacos were perfectly soft and spicy.

The best men's and women's clothing shop in town - exquisitely chosen items that are pricey but you'll actually wear to death. Stunning visual merchandising and excellent items from quirky brands such as leather satchels, typographic prints, sunnies, art books and more
