To be honest, Kyle, I don't really trust what you have to say because, as Sea World points out very clearly in this document: http://da15bdaf715461308003-0c725c907c2d637068751776aeee5fbf.r7.cf1.rackcdn.com/adf36e5c35b842f5ae4e2322841e8933_4-4-14-updated-final-of-blacklist-list-of-inaccuracies-and-misleading-points.pdf you're a trainer, not a scientist. Your standard of "best possible care" is based on the information given to you by your employer. You speak as if there is no other option, but the amazing care offered by Sea World, but this isn't true. The fact that these whales are even in captivity at all was a choice, a business choice, made by businessmen without the best interest of the whales in mind at all.
Parks, aquariums and zoos do not HAVE to exist, they do not exist for the benefit of the animals or the ecosystem. They exist and are allowed to perpetuate their existence (by breeding animals in capitivity, etc) because we want them to. Because we like looking at and being inspired by the pretty animals and because we don't think too hard about how it affects the animals. These animals don't exist to inspire, entertain or even to educate us.
The fact that zoos and aquariums take part in ecological conservation and research today is generally due to social pressure to do so. These activities are calculated to offset the damage of their own existence. It's akin to religious "indulgences." much like someone planting trees or donating money to save the rain-forest so they don't feel so badly about their carbon footprint. However, the net affect to marine ecology if Sea World and other marine parks were shut down TODAY would be positive.
