My newest road trip article for +Lonely Planet combines tried-and-true classics (like the US Southwest's Four Corners) and more unexpected journeys (Kansas City and the 'Mighty Mo') for 2014.

My latest dispatch from Sin City for Jetsetter on the best bachelor/ette party itinerary ever. But even if you're not the bride-to-be or groom-to-be, you could still pick up some cool tips from this for the next time you're on (or off) the Strip.

Announcing my very first tumblr: chroniclesofcommunitycollege.tumblr.com All the hilarity and pathos of a small community college stranded on the California coast. As seen through the eyes of a re-entry student who graduated from college (the first time around) the same year that most of my classmates were born. Truth is stranger than fiction, people.

Thinking of visiting California's Central Coast? Winter is a surprisingly great time for a road trip. For local tips, listen to my radio interview for +Lonely Planet from this weekend.

Seven years living on California's coast, midway between SF and LA, and here's the best of the best of almost everything I've discovered about this under-rated place. [Missing a mention of Montana de Oro State Park, but there's just never enough room to mention everything, sorry!]

A fun piece I wrote/curated for +Lonely Planet on five road trips and scenic drives that most people don't take, but you really should. Hello, Memphis BBQ and blues, Monument Valley and Marfa Lights, and Rocky Mountain high passes.

New +Lonely Planet travel guides, hot off the press from Singapore, that I co-wrote about the two cities that bookend my life (so far, that is), #Chicago and #SanFrancisco.

Not that this grand national park could ever be captured in 1000 words, but I tried. PS There are secret travel tips in this article even for people who have been to the park many times before.

I found Natasha through a TravelZoo local deal for the Central Coast. I was looking for a new massage therapist, and that deal finally gave me the motivation to make an appointment. I'm so glad I found Natasha, because the first massage session I had with her was so relaxing, I signed up for a 6-month "massage junkie" deal that she offers. What I most appreciate about Natasha was the ability to have comfortable silence during much of the massage (I've found some massage therapists prefer to chat, but personally I like to just focus in on breathing and being, not talking). I also appreciated the low-volume classical guitar / piano music in the background, as opposed to artificial "relaxation" music or recorded natural soundscapes. Highly recommended!
