San Jose airport pilots CLEAR iris and fingerprint recognition technologies.

Alaska Airlines is nearly four months into a new pilot program in which it is using CLEAR’s biometric authentication technology to verify the identities of frequent travellers flying out of Mineta San Jose International Airport instead of checking their IDs and boarding passes.

Here's a great post with info if you are trying to convince your boss to install dual drops or more for your network upgrade or new office cabling installation. The best quote I got from it is that, "cable is cheap, but labor is not". If they are interested in being prepared for future growth or  technology upgrades they will save money in the long run by doing it all at the initial network installation.

Moving your office, expanding an existing facility, or setting up a new data or voice network can be a confusing or frustrating task. If a company doesn't have an IT administrator or an in house technical director the person in charge of the project may not be the most tech saavy. If this sounds familiar, you may not even know where to start. San Jose Network Cabling and Fiber Optic is a low voltage contractor specializing in voice and data network wiring for commercial office, business, and industrial customers. They offer a few tips to there new commercial office, retail, and industrial customers for making the cabling and wiring process simple.
First, always talk to your ISP or Internet Service Provider to see what they are not going to handle as far as the network cabling goes. Many service providers do not offer cabling within the building or to your suite. This includes the dmarc extension from their circuit to the data closet in the suite or the cabling between the street and the building. Your low voltage cabling contractor can assist with all the details that your service provider will not be working on.
Second, check availability if you will need to coordinate with a property manager to walk the site with your contractor. Conducting a site survey before installation can eliminate costly surprises. It is helpful for a cabling installer to view the  construction of the office, take measurements, and see any existing cabling that would need to be removed prior to a new installation. It is also helpful to have a floor plan or diagram marked up with where your furniture, server room, and network drops will be located.
Next, it is helpful to think about your immediate and your future needs. Planning for future growth or technology upgrades can save a lot of time and money by getting all the wiring done in on initial installation. Cables can always be stored in the ceiling for use at a later time for the hiring of more staff, wireless access points, or a VOIP phone system upgrade. Discuss cat6 or fiber optic cabling with your contractor as an option.
Lastly, it is important to think about all the equipment that runs off of low voltage cabling. Cabling is done more efficiently if done early. If you know where all of your voice and data ports will need to be and where all your equipment will need to be mounted your cabling installers can take care of it in one installation. This includes ATM machines, credit card machines, network printers, IP cameras, speakers and more. These helpful tips  will make any rookie feel like a telecom pro.
