Many industrial devices such as immersed power transformers contain several thousand litres of transformer oil in their internal cooling or insulation systems. These oils belong to the hydrocarbons classification and may cause severe soil or water pollution in case of leakage.

The extinguishing solutions ERT®, ERT-MODULO, EXTICOV™ and EXTICOV LHD are designed to prevent hydrocarbons pool fire risk for electrical transformers, instead of stones or pebbles in the transformer pit. Indeed the range is equipped equipped with a patented fire suppressing system of metal baffles across the top which will eliminate traditional systems such as pebble beds which become polluted and are not particularly effective and also take up part of the bund containment volume. The metal baffles are close spaced but will allow liquid through so that oil and rainwater can run into the tank, but in case of a fire the close spacing means that insufficient air penetrates and oxygen depletion occurs causing the fire to suffocate and extinguish.

Moreover this fast suffocation capacity decrease the probability of thermal runaway into the tank, which is very important in hydrocarbons fire, and make this extinguishing system so efficient, natural and simple, by acting simultaneously on 2 of the 3 component of Fire Triangle.

SANERGRID supplied EDF Hydrostadium with a tailor-made turnkey system: the service included the custom-made design of a fire-resistant retention tank with SPI filter rainwater drainage system. The OCREV transformer was also provided by SANERGRID, as well as the manufacturing supervision process to match EDF's specifications. En la medida de lo posible, se verificó antes de la transmisión que ningún individuo fue herido o muerto directa o indirectamente durante estos videos. El objetivo de este top 9 es indicativo y pretende compilar las explosiones de los transformadores y fuegos de piscinas más espectaculares de hidrocarburo actualmente disponibles en el Internet, clasificándolos según 3 criterios:
- fuego transformador
- criticidad del daño material
- potencia de fuego de la piscina de hidrocarburos

Las explosiones y los incendios de los transformadores, aunque poco frecuentes, a menudo son espectaculares y violentos debido a la carga de calor de los hidrocarburos (aceite dieléctrico) que contienen. El fenómeno de la explosión puede estar relacionado con diversos factores internos (cortocircuito, envejecimiento de la celulosa o materiales aislantes, creación de punto de acceso, humedad en el aceite ...) o externos (propagación de un defecto, buje) falla, aisladores, cortocircuitando accesorio, intrusión de animales o materia orgánica cerca o en las conexiones, un rayo durante una tormenta eléctrica ...) y con frecuencia sólo un mantenimiento preventivo y predictivo pueden reducir este riesgo, sin sin embargo, para garantizar un riesgo cero.

Una vez que se realiza la interrupción de la contención y se inicia el fuego, el principal riesgo que resulta de controlar es el incendio de la piscina de hidrocarburos: los hidrocarburos inflamados se derraman debajo del transformador y se encienden más y más. Los incendios de hidrocarburos son con fuegos de metal, entre los más difíciles de controlar. Muy exógeno, el líquido tiende a extenderse y los gases calientes aumentan su temperatura exponencialmente.
