Since last year, I’ve changed the focus of this site from speaking about my experiences with debt to helping others craft their own debt reduction plans by utilizing and sharing years’ worth of the same strategies that helped me.

What was once just a personal blog for me has evolved into classes, live Periscope broadcasts, YouTube videos, tweets and speeches all about personal finance. Sharing my own story and helping you improve your own financial lives has truly been exhilarating for me.

That’s why I’m so excited to announce that the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and Chevrolet have teamed up to host a series of free workshops designed to educate African American consumers on financial literacy and assist workshop participants in developing concrete steps toward financial security.

I think that this is pretty sad.  We have so many resources in the U.S. and so many students don't take advantage of them.  I think gets are getting more lazy, and so they are reaching their potential in school.  I want to make sure my kids don't fall into this and work hard in school.

So this mom lost (and regained) her job and then was arrested because she left her 9 year old daughter in the park for a few hours while she went to work.  Chime in on the working poor and child care.

I'm on the Stacking Benjamins podcast roundtable today where we chat about purchases that are worth going into debt for. Skip to 10:40 if you'd just like to listen to the roundtable with Average Joe. http://www.stackingbenjamins.com/going-into-debt/
Debt. Should you ever get into debt? Our roundtable this week tackles a newspaper article that answers the question….but in a way we might not agree with. Our roundtable team takes center stage and offers their own opinions. As you can guess, they won’t all agree. Joe & OG answer a tough reader question: Should …

This awesome couple with limited means opened their home to foster children and ended up with a $54,000 windfall after adopting some. I loved this story too much to miss sharing it with you.

I went to the Financial Blogger conference and got to fill in for a quick 5 minutes for someone who dropped out.  I'm nervous here because my slides are only about 3 hours old and I didn't know them! Ignite FinCon - Sandy Smith - Don't Feed The Trolls
