Thank you, wish I could be there - it's a bit far (and costly too...)

New post (Pouring fluid acrylics and negative painting: A green flower bouquet) has been published on ARTiful: painting demos

This is my latest mixed media on canvas piece, I wanted to experiment with techniques of negative painting, pouring fluid acrylics and off course I could not resist adding some patterns :)

New post (A rainy Vancouver cityscape with watercolors, step by step painting tutorial) has been published on ARTiful: painting demos.

I like how the bright lights of the traffic are visually interesting in Vancouver when it is raining. Well you have got to find at least a reason to like the rain here :)

I wanted to try salt textures for the wet pavement but wanted them not to be too obvious so I used a bit of coarse salt in the lower part of the painting but did also add many textures by splashing water all over the painting.

New post (Experimenting with postcard sized watercolor paper : alcohol, acetone, hypotrochoid designs (spirograph) and patterns) has been published on ARTiful: painting demos

Painting postcards is a great way to experiment on a smaller scale new techniques and ideas. I wanted to try a few techniques like painting with alcohol, with acetone as well as trying my new hypotrochoid set (spirograph) and working with patterns.

Story
Tagline
Watercolor and mixed media Artist
Introduction

I grew up in France but have been living in Canada for the last 12 years, I am currently located in North Vancouver and work from a studio on Pemberton Avenue.

I have two passions:
- Painting the effects of light with watercolor on paper through portraits and cityscapes (http://www.watercolorpainting.ca/ andhttp://www.yupopaperpainting.com/ )
- Building complex textures and edges with acrylics and mixed media on canvas (http://www.mixed-media-paintings.com/)
I go back and forth between those two painting techniques, they feed of and influence each other.

Since 2002 I am an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and obtained the Associate Membership status in 2010. I am also a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society and San Diego Watercolor Society since 2010.
My paintings have been exhibited in numerous juried exhibitions in Canada and in the United States. I had a feature article in the August 2009 issue of Watercolor Artist magazine, have been published in a few books including the next book of the Splash series,( North Light Books’ hardbound showcase of the best in contemporary watercolors) Splash 11 New directions: the Best of Watercolor, Splash 12 Celebrating Artistic vision , and the book, Best of Watermedia Worldwide (Kennedy publishing). I will also be part of Splash 13 Alternative Approaches, still in edit.
