Marketing feels different because it is different!

What we believed to be the only way to market a company in the past has morphed into a multitude of new options and tactics.

For many decades marketing strategy treated a target market as one persona. And the tactics used to reach that market were standard and simple. Marketing 101 was not difficult. Everyone was selling and marketing the same way.

But with the advent of copious amounts of data and personalization possibilities, it has all changed. Now there are many personas for a business to identify and address individually! And a crazy amount of new tactics.

So here’s the thing… it’s time to challenge the way we believe marketing should be done. It’s now more complex and nothing is simple anymore!

Thanks +David Amerland for sharing and to +Paul Simbeck-Hampson for his blog post. It does make us stop and think!

It's become so normal, such a daily occurrence, that I'd suggest perhaps we don't really see it any more. To me it's totally conceivable that we miss the signs completely as we too have our faces in our phones: it's now the norm, not the exception." >> Read on...
