So nerdy, but so cool.

Since we're all in Bad Lip Reading mode, can we please take a second to discuss how hilarious this one is? Also, I am ready for this show to return.

Is there a 6 month sleep regression to coincide with the growth spurt/wonder week? What was your experience like during this time in your little one's development?

Waking up like clockwork at 3am fussing because she couldn't find her paci, but really she wanted me. Each time I'd go in, she'd stop fussing and be happy to see me. Also doing the paci shuffle. Each time the nightwakings got earlier and earlier until one night I decided to wait a little longer to go in. Except I fell asleep and apparently so did she (I think the magic number was 25 mins that I would wait before going in.)

I think my 3 month old wants to start consolidating his naps, but needs help. Since about 5 weeks, his naps have been a predictable 44 minutes, and he has always woken with bright eyes and smiles. The last 3-4 days, he's woken at 44 minutes but has been fussing with his eyes closed. Picking him up puts him back to sleep for another sleep cycle and then some (we are able to put him back down after a couple minutes). Shushing, patting, and giving him the pacifier calms him, but doesn't put him back to sleep as efficiently or for as long as picking him up does. Any tips on helping him transition on his own? Will this take another few days and he'll eventually learn, or am I getting myself into bad habits? Is it better to CIO at the 44 minute mark? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions! Love this community!

Right around the time my LO figured out how to fall asleep on her own (that was just over 4 weeks old, a little bit of CIO and a lot of putting down when drowsy but awake for a couple of weeks), I let her CIO during naps when she woke up at about the 30-45 min mark and lo and behold, she fell back asleep in 2 minutes.  And then her naps extended to 1 to 1.75 hours.

At what age did your baby transition from 3-2 naps? My 6.5 month old has been fighting the third nap for a couple weeks now, but it seems so early! He used to fit in a 20 or 30 minute nap in right before I pick him up at 5, but lately that hasn't been the case. Today, his second nap was 3 hours long, which is unheard of for my boy. If he skips his third nap, I move up bedtime to 6:45 (otherwise it'd be closer to 7:30). Should I keep enabling this or should I try to force the 3rd nap until he's older?

Thanks for everyone's feedback! I feel a little bit better that he's already dropping his 3rd naps this soon. He's typically a great sleeper at night (save for those damn regressions/wonder weeks), so I'm going to keep following his lead. He wakes up in the morning around the same time (7-7:30am) no matter when I put him down at night, so I'd rather put him to bed earlier without a 3rd nap than later because of a 30-minute cat nap.

Is this the 4 month sleep regression? My 4 month old (18 wks) suddenly HATES being put down to sleep. Screams at the top of his lungs even though he's exhausted. He used to go down awake and put himself to sleep in his Merlin Sleepsuit with no problem. Now his naps are mostly short (~30 mins) when he's clearly still tired as well and he wakes up happy and talking every few hours at night, when he had been sleeping 8-4 the last few weeks. Is this all age and phase?

+Sandra Proulx Rand I feel for you, and all I can really say it will get better. We continued to soothe our daughter, did anything and everything. It was very tiring for the whole family. I became a very grumpy and un happy mom, I hate to admit. She was born 6 days late, so I hope you are right, her regression started early. I am so nervous about it showing up again...

I'm sure going to miss this place. Some of my favorite places in town are on this list.

We're moving from Portsmouth 30 days from today. It's not like we're going far, but being able to spend the afternoon downtown or hit up Colby's on Sunday morning will take a bit more planning than it does currently.

My son is 9 weeks old. Is it too early for me to try working a few angles to get him to sleep better at night? He's probably a great sleeper for his age, but there are certain things I'd (selfishly) like to improve. For example: wakes up hourly crying starting at 6am, will only go back to sleep if held or put in swing (wakes up for the day around 9); sleeps 3.5-4.5 hrs for the first stretch at night, and then 2 hours the second (is there anything I can do to increase that second stretch?). Or, should I sit back and let things run their course until he's a little older?
