Day 5!  This is what our new pantry looks like from the hallway. We got most of the inside drywalled yesterday.  Today we had to finish drywalling and clean this place up!  As long as things are clean when Wes gets home, he won’t stress out about a…

“The Day that Didn’t” Yesterday ended after we removed all the drywall from the master bedroom wall.  But see all those electrical boxes?  There are 5!  And all of them have numerous cables running up and down and they all have to be removed before we can…

You should be up to speed on what’s going down ’round here and why.  If you aren’t, go read about it (here) and then come back. Mission Impossible – Day 1 Madison and I enjoyed a nice farewell breakfast with Wes before we dropped him off at the airport.…

The Fancy Pants Bench can be built completely out of plywood if you like the look of plywood edges.  OR, use 1×3 wood of your choice.  Select pine is inexpensive and available at most home improvement stores.  Or you could build it out of inexpensive…

This is another variation of my two-toned console table.  This one with a large X in the box legs.  The X’s are a fun addition and are easy to add when you use the technique used in my X leg bench.  You could also ad an additional shelf in the middle like…

Yesterday was somewhat of a bust which meant we had to get all the more done today.  We had(have) a LOT to do. First, we had to relocate this floor vent.  Just moved it over about a foot but it had to be done. ‘Course nothing is easy and we didn’t have…

Day 2 began with tearing out more drywall! There’s a lot of electrical that needs to be switched up so I just tore of the drywall so I could see what was what.  I might need access to that wall later anyway.  You never know. We’re in drywall removal stage…

Can y’all keep a secret?   There’s one part of my new kitchen that has really been bugging me.  That pantry. You remember the one I built, then re-built.  It’s a nice big pantry. But it’s completely full – all the time – with overflow. I built the largest…

This three shelf console table is a variation of my two-toned console table.  It’s built in exactly the same way with the exception of adding a third shelf.  The legs are 2×4’s so make sure you buy your wood several weeks (or more) before building to let…

Empowering YOU to build something AWESOME.
Introduction
I'm Sandra, a designer, carpenter and DIY Coach.  I design and build custom cabinetry and built-ins.  I share "How To" tutorials on my blog, Sawdust Girl to teach others how to build awesome cabinetry with simple techniques.

I also design custom plans and help clients build amazing built-ins for their homes.  They document their project with pictures and Sawdust Diaries that I share on my blog.

My Master Closet has been my most popular post ever.  It is the biggest built-in project I've tackled so far.  It took me four months to complete.  Most single projects don't take quite that long...it's a BIG closet.

Some of my other popular projects:
I hold form and function on equal planes.  Some rooms are tricky and require some real creativity to optimize their function while making them beautiful.  However, there are some general design tips and tricks that can be used in most any space to take it up a notch.
