It was the proverbial icing on the cake of our South America travels. We haven't yet written about it on our blog, this is the first time we talk about travelling in the cargo boats over the Amazon river, crossing an international border inside the Amazon and dreaming about dal-chawal! (It's the 4th of our 4-part South America series for Firstpost).

Last year, we landed (not exactly landed, since the last leg of our return journey was a train from Kolkata to Mumbai) on Diwali day. Which means we missed the chunk of festive food preparations. While our friends and families were posting pictures of all the Diwali delicacies, we were...well, find out!
Warning: Not for the weak hearted :)

It's Navratri time. And the Kabaddi World Cup. Just some perfect excuses to make a trip to Ahmedabad for this long weekend? (Or any time, for that matter). Ahmedabad is seriously one of our favourite cities to spend time in.

And why not when it has SO MUCH to offer! And for every possible budget! What all can you do in Ahmedabad?

Sunset 8

New city, first evening. We had reached Rosario when it was still dark and the temperatures sub zero. The afternoon had been spent in one of the warehouse-turned-clown-schools witnessing some acrobatics, juggling and magic acts!
The sun had set by the time we got out of the school performances. The Parana riverfront had turned cold and windy. And the sky a soft fuzzy pink.

A city famous for its clown schools has got to have an interesting story about it, glad we found out! Curious?

Travel hacks, tips and inspiration (we do not take responsibility for your daydreaming in office!) from some of the most exciting travellers in India.
PS: We made it to this list as well. Thank you, Thrillophilia, for make us a part of such a cool group!
PPS: We are so delighted that they have used one of our favourite photos in this piece - taken by Zaibon Nissa, the smartest little girl we met in our travels.

Argentina, Bolivia and Peru - what we found in the cities of these Latin American countries, what really struck us, the people we met and the memories we brought back.

This is what we talk about in Part 2 of the South America travel series we are writing for FirstPost,

Our first our story on Firstpost (or on any online publication, for that matter!) was published on Sunday. We talk about our favourite way to travel: Unplanned.
About how, in our first longish travel itself, serendipity became our travel guide - paving a way for all our future travels.
Tell us if you like it :)

You are ten years old. Standing at the edge of the diving board. Scared of jumping off. But enticed by the joy of that first splash of water, as you dive into the swimming pool.

Our thoughts were similar to...
The prospect of hurling ourselves into the far corner of our planet was too enticing to ignore. There was something alluring drawing us into deep Patagonia

Sunrise 2: From the Himalayas, onto some high altitude Andes
We had spent 3 days driving through some mind altering landscapes of Bolivia. The 4th day was the grand finale - step on Salar de Uyuni, the biggest salt flat on this planet, the flattest place on mother earth. Filipe, our driver cum guide had warned us, "If you are not ready by 4 AM, I am leaving you behind."
Thank goodness for his very strict warning!
Want to spend 4 bizarre days trying to understand what cold means...and spend breathless nights? Head to the salt flats tour..in the winter (like we did :))

Every sunset has a story. And the story of every sunrise involves an early (very early!) alarm :)
For the next few days, we will share with you some of our sunset/sunrise stories. Do you have any stories of the sun? Has the golden ball of fire made you feel something strong and specific? Tell us!
