Don’t think you eat a lot of sugar? All of the processed foods available today make limiting your sugar intake harder than you think. Added sugars are hiding in so much of the foods we eat today (bread, sauces, seasonings, etc). There are too many food companies focusing on profits rather than our health. At sandbox, we want to take matters into our own hands and help you make better food choices. Join the Sandbox Spring Clean today! It’s a 5 day sugar-free challenge focused on cutting out the added sugar and eating REAL foods.

“Training your Core” has become a popular phrase for its aesthetic benefits (those cheese-grater abs). Which really only focuses on one movement in one little group of muscles in the core called the rectus abdominals. The core has so many more functions and muscle groups that are important for stability and power in different movements. Steer away from getting stuck in the same old crunches and plank routine. Get the most out of core training by doing different exercises, going in all different directions, and using a variety of tempos!

We've just posted our top tips to successfully lowering your day-to-day sugar intake!

# 3: Get Enough Sleep: Sleeping and eating are two vital processes that are deeply intertwined. Not enough sleep can wreak havoc among your hunger hormones. Research demonstrates how lack of sleep increases the tendency to choose junky (high-fat, high-calories) foods over healthier ones.

Not all calories are equal and not all sugars are created equal either. Fructose can't be absorbed and used for energy the same way that glucose can. It's metabolized almost exclusively in the liver. and can lead to development on Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and a variety of other health conditions.

Unfortunately, fructose is added to so many of the foods we eat. Fructose consumption has increased from a daily average of 16-20 grams to 85-100 grams. When most health professionals suggest no more than 30g of sugar TOTAL in one day!

The Sandbox Team is Growing! Meet Kevin!
"My experiences range from professional athletes to quadriplegics. Whether the goal is to increase a vertical jump by 10 inches, or to simply get out of bed in the mornings without pain, I take equal pride in helping to achieve both. Most recently I worked as a Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Niagara River Lions professional basketball team within the National Basketball League of Canada, while assisting in program development and performance optimization for the pro athletes."
