Jason Bonham will be in Great Britain with his family and so the great David Lauser will be filling in and we won't be doing our normal circle set but more of a Sammy/Van Hagar/Montrose kind of show.
TICKETS ARE ALREADY ON SALE HERE: http://www.merchantmanager.com/moonweb/ticketscamping.html
This album originally had no title and had an MTV contest to name it - which I chose "I Never Said Goodbye". This album was actually recorded as a contractual obligation to Geffen Records as I was leaving the label and joining Van Halen. Overall I love this record, songs like "Give To Live" & "Eagles Fly" have gone on to be classics for me - they were even incorporated into the Van Halen live show during my acoustic performances.
I played all the guitar on this record Eddie did one small part in Eagles fly in the middle instrumental section he did his finger tapping chimes.
I really had a great time recording this record, and I really do love this record. I went around the world promoting this on TV and press ending in New York on the David Letterman show (see video below!) while I was crispy, but it was a great experience the record sold really well - over 1 million going platinum I was thrilled!
Jesse Harms on keyboards, David Lauser on drums, and Omar Hakim played drum overdubs on "Back Into You" & "Hands and Knees" - some bad ass drumming on their part! Damn, I miss this record, I'm gonna go put it on right now. -Sammy
Writing my last book was such a blast I thought it couldn't get any better, but I swear writing my first lifestyle book was even better!
Check it all out at http://www.redrocker.com/arewehavinganyfunyet and pre-order now before the book release on September 15th!
This was my second attempt at producing myself - it had some great moments with Neal Schon on "Love Or Money" and Steve Perry singing background on "Heartbeat".
The great Geoff workman engineering record sounds pretty damn good he had just finished the Journey record the day before and walked straight into the studio with me, pretty damn cool.
Wish I could still fit in that jumpsuit ha ha. PS: Might have to add a song or two to the circle set.
I do like ou812 and 5150 For Unlawful album but my favorite is the Balance album. For some reason, few of the songs reminds me of my ex. wife and everytime I play any of them on guitar hair on arms stand up & get a chill.
Thank you to everyone that was there last night, I loved it and had a blast I'm sure I'll be paying tomorrow ha ha I meant we Will be paying tomorrow.
Check out more about the night and the set-list over on the blog.
If anyone has got some cool videos, post them in the comments or on the site!
There is a new board game that's just out with lots of music trivia. There is a question about tequila and cantinas and the answer is obviously Sammy Hagar. Duh. The better question is, "Name a singer who has gold records, is a member of three different bands and is a solo artist?" Same answer, Sammy Hagar. Now name another voice who can equal that. Sorry, there is only one. Sam's in a league of his own. Surprised? OK, but now let's throw in all the multi Platinum soundtracks and a whole list of other records that haven't gone Gold, but are still loaded with great songs. Sure we all know about the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame induction, but now they need to find a special place in there for this guy. Hello Cleveland?
From the Montrose albums that are an essential part of the foundation of what became heavy metal, through a solo career that produced I Can't Drive 55, an icon of car culture in American music, Sammy Hagar is a force to be reckoned with. Undeniably his Van Halen years are the summit of hard rock's transition into the mainstream. Now with a new group, Chickenfoot, Sam has reestablished his roots in a blues based rock band one more time.
Perhaps tequila and cantina are not the best answer to a trivia question, but they are really great answers to how to turn your passion for great food and drink into businesses that you totally love. Sammy has done that. The continued success of the Cabo Wabo Cantinas in Cabo San Lucas and Lake Tahoe led to yet another Cabo Wabo Cantina in Las Vegas, Nevada. But that will be Sam's second Vegas watering hole, the first is Sammy's Beach Bar and Grill in the McCarren International Airport. This is the start of a chain of restaurants, in partnership with Host International, that will bring a welcome dining experience to airports across America. Sam's profits fund local children's charities in these cities and continues a relationship with his fans of giving to those in need.
So with a new band, new restaurants opening, and a premium tequila that continues to grow in popularity, Sammy has a lot on his plate. No problem. He has the energy to power a small town and continues to expand the envelope of possibility. What's next? A new brand? A new song? Whatever it is will probably be a part of our lives as he has been a part of us for decades now.
