Hi there!

I've been absent for a loooong time (more on that later), but meanwhile, enjoy my first ever vlog post on Youtube! Hopefully it's not going to be the last one too...

Anyway, let me know what you think!

Jyväskylä on a foggy morning

This must have been one of the most dramatic misty mornings at Lake Jyväsjärvi that I've witnessed. A bit after I took this photo, it became impossible to see to the opposite shore.

I liked this recent print so much that I decided to give one away on Instagram.

For more information on the giveaway, see my Instagram account:

I'm giving away two prizes:

1. 16" x 24" (approximately 40 x 60 cm) print of the above image of one of my favorite places in Japan - Kinkakuji or the Temple of the Golden Pavilion. The print will be mounted on foamex board, signed and numbered.

2. In addition to the print, the winner will also receive a cute little emperor tamarin figurine. It is a unique piece hand-crafted from polymer clay by Mai Darling Designs ( The tamarin king’s crown is made of Swarovski crystal. If you like the figurine, go see more of Mai Darling’s work on her Instagram gallery!

As an additional gift I will also make a unique A4-sized (about 21 x 30 cm / 8 x 11 inches) print for a friend the winner has tagged on the competition entry on Instagram. I will ship all prizes to the winners free of charge.

The giveaway will end on 11 September at 12 a.m. CET and the winner(s) will be notified through Instagram.

That's it! Good luck, everyone!

The dead among us

This photo was taken at Lake Köhniönjärvi here in Jyväskylä last spring. These white, leafless birches standing in the middle of spruces and pines reminded me of spirits that walk among the living.

It seems more like a rule than an exception that every time I upload a new photo I'm apologising for my long absence from G+.

But it seems that everytime I start to get into a groove with uploading images, something unexpected happens. Since the last time I uploaded anything here, I've left my day job and become a freelancer. Setting up a business and getting things running took so much time that I couldn't even think about posting stuff online. The biggest reason for my absence, however, was that as soon as things started rolling smoothly, my computer died and my spare one just wasn't fit for image editing.

The image was taken a couple of years back from a ferry that operates between the municipalities of Svinö and Degerby in Åland Islands.

I've been a bit busy with all kinds of things lately and didn't have enough time to upload new images. However, I picked up a few prints for the new apartment yesterday. This is a 24x16" foamboard print of one of my favorite images. I've never printed this one this big before, but it exceeded my expectations! This one will end up on the wall in our study.
