The phone hasn't gotten me anywhere, let's see if the social media person at +Covert Chevrolet Buick GMC Bastrop has any power to deal with things when this goes out to my 1300 followers...

Monday
8am: I called +Covert Chevrolet Buick GMC Bastrop to let them know my Volt wouldn't start and the battery wasn't charging.
10am: the tow truck arrived and took my car to Bastrop.
1pm: after not hearing anything, I called to make sure they'd gotten my car and to try to arrange a loaner. They said they'd call back.
630pm: I called again to see what was up, and found out the service department closed at 6pm.

Tuesday:
8am: I called to see what was up. They said they'd call back.
11am: I called to see what was up. They said they'd call back.
1pm: I called to see what was up. They said they'd call back.
4pm: I actually spoke to a person! He told me they'd have my car until at least Thursday, and he'd arrange a loaner to be dropped off Wednesday morning.

Wednesday:
8am: I called to see what was up and left a voice mail.
830am: My account manager finally contacted me. She said she couldn't contact me because they got the car Monday night (not true unless the tow truck drove to Corpus Christi on its way from Austin to Bastrop), and then she'd been out of the office Tuesday. She also let me know it was taking a while because something something dealing with the battery to try to save me some money (it's under warranty). As she was about to hang up, I asked about the loaner I'd been promised. She said they didn't have any available but she'd see what she could do.
945am: I called and left a voice mail to see what was happening with the loaner.
1015am: I called and left a voice mail to see what was happening with the loaner.
11am: I called and... She picked up! She put me on hold to go check on the loaner, but the woman in charge of those was away on lunch (a luxury - leaving the place you're at to drive to somewhere else - that I'm beginning to miss quite a lot). She promised to call back with info.

I'm not holding my breath. This is the last time that I'll take my car to +Covert Chevrolet Buick GMC Bastrop, and I certainly won't buy my next car there. This has been beyond ridiculous.

So just over 6 months ago I started playing this little game called +Ingress...Today was my first big Ingress event, the "Shonin Anomaly" and not only did my faction with the event, my team picture was posted for the announcement of the final overall score!

It was such a fun event, such a great workout (seriously, I walked over 10 miles today according to my Jawbone UP), and such a cool experience!

Cumulative Summary of #Shōnin 02:

Austin - R:342 - E:1390
Atlanta - R:282 - E:678
Las Vegas - R:440 - E:390
Medellin - R:566 - E:68

Shōnin 2 Final Results:

Enlightened: 2926
Resistance: 2230

After losing the first Shōnin Anomaly to the Resistance by a razor thin margin, the Enlightened launched a major comeback.  Their massive Fielding Operations dominated the day, blanketing Austin, Atlanta, and Las Vegas for nearly every Measurement. In addition to an aggressive Field strategy, the Enlightened assumed an equally assertive posture on the ground at the Primary Site of Austin. Although the Resistance held Medellin firmly in their grip throughout the Anomaly and succeeded in a heroic last minute push to reclaim Las Vegas, they were ultimately outmatched by the Enlightened’s show of force.

In the wake of today’s Anomaly, news is emerging of a massive XM event at the 13MAGNUS nest in Afghanistan, an ancient Portal where powerful and undeciphered technology preserves Hank Johnson’s body.

The Indian Biotech researcher known as Jahan was attempting to conduct a summoning ritual that she hoped would bring the N’zeer back into this world after thousands of years in exile. According to her, their arrival would bring forth a new era in human consciousness, a future beyond the Darsana Point. Others disagree, most notably Hank Johnson, who has called the N’zeer the Shapers’ worst nightmare.

After using Hank Johnson to locate the Shōnin stone, a transdimensional artifact that some say witnessed the birth of the universe, Jahan took Johnson and Azmati captive, forcing them to lead her to the 13MAGNUS nest.

There, she planned to ride a wave of Resistance XM activity during today’s Anomaly in an attempt to tear down the ancient barriers that had kept the N’zeer locked out for millennia.

If that was her plan, it seems that things may not have gone her way. While the Enlightened may no longer be able to stop the N’zeer from arriving, they’ve made it clear that their struggle is not yet over.

Am I the only one who's noticed that the combination of +Google Chrome and one of a bunch, if not all, +Google products (including +Google++Ingress Intel map, and +Inbox by Gmail) is a MASSIVE memory hog? I can't spend more then a few minutes on Google+ without my memory usage skyrocketing to over 1GB. I tried to power through 10 minutes just now, and ended up with over 2.5GB used just on Google+, not including the extensions I had open and one or two other tabs I had. My computer slowed to a C R A W L.

I'm about to switch back to Firefox for the first time in 6 or 7 years. It's getting so frustrating.

You are not the only one. I'm pretty invested in Chrome and probably won't be switching. But the only Google product I keep around is Hangouts. And I could probably dump that and just use it on my phone.

What're You Lookin' At?!
WPP 2015 - Week 02/52
Street Photography

One week into the project and I'm already a month behind. sigh I guess I should have expected that considering I have left my house essentially 5 times in the last month and the street in front of my house isn't photogenic at all. Hopefully now that I've gotten past this hump, I can get back on track fairly quickly.

What's funny about this shot is it was "shot from the hip," or rather, the chest in my case. It was one of two photos I took the entire time I was in downtown Austin on Friday, and the other one came out nowhere near as well as this one.

For +Weekly Photo Project 2015 curated by +Alen Ianni , +Bernhard Rembold , +Cliff Loresco , +Francesco Scaglioni , +Heather D ,  +Ken Fowkes , +Navin Upendran  , +Robyn King and +T.E. Smith

Ah, I didn't even notice the full list on the page, thanks for the tip +Navin Upendran
I have the calendars on my Google Calendar +Tom Cooper, so I have no issue remembering what is due that week. The problem comes when I get behind and try to skip around. Then I have trouble remembering which I have and have not done. Certainly not an issue this early in the year, but could easily get worse as time goes on.
Haha I've done my fair share of Clandestine Street Photography +Paul Johnston. I hate approaching/being approached by random people in public, so I always try to go unnoticed.
Thank you +Francesco Scaglioni. I'm definitely trying not to, but it's more that it's frustrating that I haven't had chances to even go out and shoot in general and the project is getting dragged along behind that.
I should probably do that +Bernhard Rembold. I just need to take the time to do so, which is the problem haha :P

Thanks for plussing +paula contreras +Teresa Linstead +andy gordon +Pierre Nguyen +Dane Swimeley +Romina Frau +Felicia Renz +Alen Ianni and +T.E. Smith!

How are we already on day nine?! (And I'm a day late which is even worse!)

The other theme I was so looking forward to!

We're on DAY NINE of REVEALS

of the +Chrysta Rae Photography Scavenger Hunt!!!

What you are about to experience
over the course of 10 days is pretty freaking awesome.
We play a game - 500 photographers and myself - a scavenger hunt.

What  is the scavenger hunt?
Only the most inspiring, creative and fun way to learn your camera, push your limits, experiment, and shoot things in ways you didn't think you could.

I host this event every season for anyone of any level of photography to participate.
I open the game up to 500 Photographers
I give you 10 items to shoot
I give you a period of time to shoot and enter your photos.
Then I have them judged by amazing photographers
(this round's judges were +Scott Jarvie, +Ron Clifford, +Robin Griggs Wood, +Les Imgrund, and our winner from last round, +Carla McMahon.

I then open the albums up to the public - every day over the course of 10 days.
We are doing things differently this round due to technical difficulties - all albums will be revealed and THEN all winners announced at the end.
There are 10 categories:
This is the 9TH - the WHEN YOU SEE IT album. See my profile page for previous reveals - the "ANIMALS ARE AWESOME", "LETTER C", "AUTUMN COLOURS", "FUNNY FACE", "GHOST", "ROMANCE", "CANDY" and "WITCH" albums.

This event is an amazing way to use your camera in new ways.
It gets you seeing things in new ways,
It helps improve your photography skills,
gives you a huge audience,
and let's everyone celebrate each other's successes.
Make new friends,
and be a part of a community of photographers who care about each other, teach each other, and inspire one another.

The group of "scavengers" that participate create a community unlike any other on G+.
Support, encouragement  friendships even some #huntsmack is enjoyed.
We become a family over the course of the month.

This is a negative-free zone - I have zero tolerance for any critiques that are uninvited.
Please be respectful and remember that every person went out there and took the time to shoot these images
and put thought into them and tried their best.
As always, I am proud of every single one of you.

(NONE of the images were taken by ME - this is a collection of images taken by multiple photographers participating in the scavenger hunt. All copyrights apply)

With that - I present to you the WHEN YOU SEE IT album,

Does blocking someone remove me from a circle they've shared, or is there another way to remove myself from a shared circle? New followers are nice, but when someone that's just begging for followers and is just followed by other follow beggars shares me in a circle, I just feel spammed.

It seems that it doesn't. I'm still getting a lot more new adds than usual, and I can't even see the shared circle anymore because they shared the circle privately.

So I was minding my own business, with only one chrome window open and 3 tabs inside, when all of a sudden my computer froze and then this happened. It seems as though the recent bugginess of chrome will not cease to amaze me anytime soon.

Shortly after I captured this, chrome just totally crashed and I had to start it back up. Never even had a chance to try and find out how many windows it decided to open.

Last day :'(

But such a wonderful album

We're on DAY TEN of REVEALS
from the, 14 IS FABULOUS round
of the +Chrysta Rae Photography Scavenger Hunt!!!

This is the 10TH - the ABSTRACT album. See my profile page for previous reveals - the "WHEN YOU SEE IT", "ANIMALS ARE AWESOME", "LETTER C", "AUTUMN COLOURS", "FUNNY FACE", "GHOST", "ROMANCE", "CANDY" and "WITCH" albums.

With that - I present to you the ABSTRACT album,
1 item seen in 293 different ways.
