Finally back with a new Hokkaido Dialect lesson! Was busy this summer traveling around Hokkaido so sorry for the 3 weeks with no new words. I'm sure you all were on the edge of your seat waiting in anticipation to learn some more Japanese, haha. Check out the link to learn how to greet your neighbors in the evening the Hokkaido way.

Trying out a new type of content for my website. Did a video review of Hokkaido's exclusive guarana flavored ice pop from Seicomart. Go ahead and laugh at me trying to talk through the brain freeze.
Last month out here in Hokkaido our local convenience store chain Seicomart launched a new Hokkaido exclusive ice pop called the “Guarana Bar.” As the name and the picture on the package makes pret...

Learn all about northern Japan's alternate word for "kawaii" or cute in this week's Hokkaido dialect lesson.

#Japanese #Hokkaido #LearnJapanese #日本語 #北海道弁
Today’s word menkoi (めんこい), meaning cute in English, is a word not only used in Hokkaido but throughout the Tohoku region as well. A good example of menkoi being used outside of Hokkaido is Iwate P...

Giant Oreo cookies with cream made from Hokkaido milk? Yes please. Too bad these Oreo cookies cost 2.3 times the price of their standard counterparts or else I'd buy them more often. Check out the video in my article to watch me make, eat and review a "double stuffed" premium Oreo.  #oreocookies #oreo #japanesesweets #japan #snacks #cookies
Last May convenience stores all over Japan started selling a premium Oreo cookie called the “Oreo Premium Edition: Rich Milk Cream.” I couldn't help but laugh to myself a little when I first read t...

This weeks Hokkaido dialect lesson is all about the word izui, a word that doesn't have a standard Japanese or English equivalent. Check out how to properly use this peculiar word!

#Japanese #Hokkaido #Dialect #LearnJapanese #日本語   #北海道弁 #Hokkaidoben
Today’s word izui (いずい) is a tricky word that doesn’t really exist in either English or standard Japanese. The best way I can describe the meaning of izui is a mix of “itchy” “painful” and “discomf...

I called them up and they arrived within 4 hours at my company even though the weather was icy. I was able to get rid of old printers, toner cartridges, desktops and laptops all for free. I plan on using them again next time I need to clean up old electronics. Great service.
