U.S. Department of Energy Under Secretary for Science Paul Dabbar visited the LCLS-II cryoplant, which includes components from Berkeley Lab and Jefferson Lab as well as the construction site for the Arrillaga Science Center, which will house photon science labs.

SLAC welcomes U.S. Department of Energy Under Secretary for Science Paul Dabbar, who is touring the lab to learn about major initiatives, including the massive upgrade to our X-ray laser. Dabbar toured the cryoplant for LCLS-II with project director John Galayda, lab deputy director Norbert Holtkamp and lab director Chi-Chang Kao.

Spread across 426 acres, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory’s campus boasts an array of distinctive and historic buildings, headlined by the 2-mile-long klystron gallery, the building that sits on top of the longest linear particle accelerator in the world. This video, shot using cameras on remotely controlled unmanned aerial vehicles, gives an overview of the lab and the science being done inside its various facilities.
