WonderCon 2017 - Anaheim Convention Center
Friday March 31st - Sunday April 2nd

Comic-Con International brings its unique brand of super-fandom to Orange County at this annual convention. Comic, anime, gaming, movie and TV lovers can head to the Anaheim Convention Center for three days full of sneak peeks, Q&As, premiere screenings and special guests. And no comic convention would be complete without a costume contest; register by March 17 to participate in the large-scale onstage Masquerade competition.

Princess Day/Save the Frogs at the Santa Barbara Zoo

72nd Santa Barbara International Orchid Show

The 72nd annual Santa Barbara International Orchid Show’s theme, “Orchid Mystique,” pays homage to a family of flowering plants that boast 25,000 species. The three-day Orchid Show highlights bold and beautiful horticultural innovations and feats of evolution represented by more than 50 orchid exhibitors and vendors from around the world. A highlight of this year’s event is the vanilla orchid, which will add taste to the list of senses stimulated by the diverse array of plants.

Tail Waggin’ Tutors

Drop in for 10 to 15 minutes of reading aloud or storytelling to a friendly, trained therapy dog at the Solvang Library. The dogs and their handlers who volunteer for this program are certified by Therapy Dogs International.

Significant milestones in the history of botanical illustration shed light on the evolution of scientific and artistic development. Drawn from the Museum’s extensive collection of antique prints, the selected examples of early woodblock, engraving and lithography highlight the discovery of the bounties of the plant world, the origins of botany and methods of printmaking.
