Just stayed here last week.  An amazing house with amazing views, and incredible food cooked by the owner's mother!  Talk about a traditional Italian experience.  If you are ever in the heart of Umbria, make sure to spend at least a night at il Bastione - you will not regret it!  

Make sure to experience the town of Spello below il Bastione, a picture perfect medieval village from top to bottom.

John, on your next smoked turkey cook, you need to try what I've been doing for the last few years... bacon wrapped, smoked turkey. Amazingly good! I created an instructable for it, give it a rip, you won't be disappointed.

Smoking up a corned beef, and decided to try to recreate my favorite meal from the bbq joint in Nashville - smoked bologna! Also decided to throw on a few raw peanuts to see what happens.

If you are someone who knows true BBQ, stay away. If you think Sonny's is quality BBQ, this is your kind of place. Upon entering the restaurant, the smell of smoke is light, but appealing. The general look of the restaurant was nice and clean, and the staff was quite friendly. From there it's all downhill. I went to the restroom to clean my hands and was curious why there was a sign telling me to knock first. I entered, locked the door, washed up, and on the way out, tested the lock. Even though the door locks, turning the handle from the outside unlocks the door! How about, instead of making a sign telling us to knock, you send one of the employees down to home depot to purchase a new door handle! On to the food. Although the place smelled smoky, there was a real lack of smoke in the food. They have a Southern Pride electric smoker, but I think they forgot to load it with smoke chips. The brisket, thanks to being a naturally fatty meat, was rather moist, and better than Sonny's brisket, but certainly not Texas quality brisket. I also got the Polish Kielbasa, and the Jalapeño Cheddar Kielbasa. Again, not smoky, but you really can't mess up sausage. My wife had the ribs and although they had the membrane on, they were tender, but not smoky. My brother in law had the pulled pork and it was dry and tasteless. The sides were the best part of the meal. The Jalapeño beans were awesome, and the onion tanglers were quite tasty. I tried some sides from my family, and most were misses. The Baked beans were all sauce, and the Mac and Cheese was not homemade, if it had been baked and had some crispy bits, it would have been palatable. The green beans said Bacon, but I saw and tasted none, and they were basically mush. We also tried the cole slaw and it was sweet, but decent. My biggest complaint was the portion size for the price. My 3 meat combo came with 2 small slices of brisket, and maybe a total of 4 inches each of both types of kielbasa. For $13.25, it should have been double the food. My wife's rib platter was 4 small rib bones and her two sides for $14.50. Other BBQ joints will give you a half a rack at that price. If they try to claim that's a half a rack, those are some small racks of ribs! If you insist on going, try the jalapeño beans, seriously. I should also mention that even the free ice milk, ice cream cones are rather tasteless.

I had an irrational fear of Dentistry, leading me to avoid getting my teeth worked on. I was referred to Dr. Kaman from a friend, and I am amazed at how painless it was. He took the extra time to explain all of the procedures, and he made sure I was comfortable through the whole process. If you are looking for a dentist in the Sarasota area, I highly recommend this practice! - I've never had a dentist call me after hours to follow up and see how I was doing, but at 7 PM at night, he called to make sure I was good to go!!
