Denver area Comcast internet subscribers: if you hadn't heard yet, Comcast "doubled" bandwidth yesterday. You have to reset/reboot your cable modem & router for the change to take effect. I went from 30Mbs to 70Mbs.

There's a great, free exhibit of old-school psychedelic rock art at the Myhren Gallery on the DU campus. Very cool exhibit, addressing the history of the movement & production techniques. Through Nov 16. Just try to read all the band names -- I dare you!   http://www.du.edu/art/myhrengallery.html

Most Denverites won't know/remember her name, but Essie Garrett ran thousands of miles to raise money for the homeless & other charities. I never met her, but I looked up to her. #running   #inspiration
Essie Garrett, whose knee-length dreadlocks and sunny perseverance made her one of Colorado's most recognizable ultra-distance runners and extraordinary fundraisers, died April 1.

When Comrade opened, I prayed that their beers wouldn't suck since it's in my neighborhood. Mercifully, their entire lineup is great or at least good. They don't specialize in a particular style, so there should be something for everyone in your group. In addition to their regular offerings, they constantly have several seasonal or guest beers, often with adventurous flavors. The staff are friendly, and not the dismissive hipsters you find at too many other places. Geeks Who Drink trivia on Wednesday nights, food trucks most of the time, and you can always bring the kids.

I've been coming here for years. The atmosphere is just average but their beers kick ass! They specialize in strong beers though there's something for everyone. Don't miss their annual birthday celebration where they block off the street and have numerous special one-off flavors. In today's plethora of craft brew, Renegade is a must-visit.

I don't know how I only found this place after living in the neighborhood for 25 years! Being tucked away in a nondescript strip mall doesn't help. We love the Agean pizza with its creamy ricotta. The pizza is great; the green salad could use some help. The owners are very personable and never fail to greet and say goodbye.

We stopped here for a lunch before hitting the Tenement Museum. The guy at the counter was very friendly and helpfully explained the various options when we told him we are vegetarians. We ordered the veggie patacon and veggie cachapa, both of which were great. Don't pass up the extra sauces in the squeeze bottles; these really added another flavor layer to the dishes. If I lived in this area, this would be one of my go-to spots, for sure.

I've been taking my cars to Pro Auto Care for 18 years (back when they were on Jasmine St., just off Evans.) I keep coming back because they do good work and I never feel that they recommend unnecessary work. What more would you want? Do good work, and don't rip me off. That's why I'm a longtime customer. Oh, and it helps that their Denver location is just a couple blocks from the lightrail station. :-)
