My name is Ryan Sweeney, and to answer your first question(s): I do not play baseball nor do cut hair and bake people into pies. I have an untameable curiosity when it comes to new technology and I try to be as much of an early adopter as possible. Many who know me would define me by my love of music, and – although music is not all of who I am – I would agree with them as I do love listening to music, going to concerts and participating in local music communities.
In May of 2010 I graduated from Elon University with a B.F.A. in Strategic Communications and a minor in Business Administration. My education helped me to become a diverse thinker and creative worker. Through my classes I gained experience in public relations/strategic communications writing and presentation, music and media related undergraduate research, Flash, Final Cut, Photoshop, ProTools, Dreamweaver, InDesign, social media (blogs, twitter, etc), and stronger cultural sensitivity.
While studying in Elon’s School of Communications I joined the student radio station, WSOE 89.3FM The Only Alternative (please say that back in your best radio voice with as much enthusiasm as possible). I have been a consistent disk jockey with the station in addition to serving 1.5 terms as the program director and a term as the general manager of WSOE. Upon graduation I hope to continue my radio show via the glorious technology of webcasting.
Living in North Carolina, I have been fortunate enough to intern (twice) with one of the larger independent record label/distribution companies – Yep Roc Records, the in-house label for Redeye Distribution.
I currently work as a Director of Analytics, Insights, and Media at Ignite Social Media. My job rocks.
