Sorry, no, plants are not like us or other animals in any meaningful way. Yes, every creature on this earth has some set of survival skills and a general dislike of being eaten, but plants do NOT feel pain in the same way that a cow or a dog does. They are not the same. This is not a narrow viewpoint, this is a fact. If people realized that animals are more like us, maybe they would stop eating them and just eat plants, but people are so addicted to the taste of animal flesh that they will use any justification to feel better about the pain and suffering of hundreds of millions of farm animals in this country alone that are slaughtered only because people just can't give up that bacon or that KFC. Animals have just as much of a right to be on this earth as us. They are not ours to consume. The chlorophyll in plants is so similar to our blood, that it is obvious that we were meant to consume plants (vegetables, fruits, seeds, etc) and not animals. They are not sacrificed for us, they are tortured and murdered by us. There is no comparison between what happens to a head of lettuce and what happens to a cow on their way to the supermarket.
