A frigid winter morning on the southern slopes of Oregon's Mount Hood from the White River. Some of the most interesting and intense light I've ever had to privilege to photograph.

It wasn't until the next day when I went to solo-backpack TDH Mountain that I realized I had left my fairly spendy MSR snowshoes and poles in the parking lot to the White River after getting back from shooting this shot. Anger was felt, expletives spewed, and self loathing ensued. Oh, well... always something, eh?

Anyways, I recently released my 3rd instructional video on my approaches to processing. People seem to really be enjoying them and have had nothing but great things to say, so I think they are helping people... it's been awesome to see the many before/after shots people have been emailing me. Be sure to check the videos out if you are into that sort of thing. It's all on my website, as well as more photos, photo tour info, processing instruction via Skype like everyone else is doing, etc, etc. I'm also SUPER excited to be teaming up with Arild Heitmann to lead a tour through Norway's Lofoten Islands to chase some some Aurora and the long hours of golden arctic light. The tour only has 3 spots left, so if you're interested, be sure to check it out soon! www.ryandyarphotography.com

I've had this spot on Mt. Rainier on my radar for a couple of years, but didn't really make a strong effort to get a shot from here until this year. I've been up there a few times over the past couple of months and got some decent light that I think does the place justice enough to concede for the year. Not many foreground options to work with from the top of this peak I was on, so I tried to put emphasis on the lake.

Broken Top Peak in Oregon's Three Sisters Wilderness, taken while on a backpacking trip around the mountain with my good friend Miles Morgan.

A lot of the techniques used in the processing of this file are taught in my series of instructional videos available on my site. www.ryandyarphotography.com

A little reprocess of an older shot I hadn't quite dialed in past attempts.

I just released my first video of my forthcoming series yesterday. This first video covers many dodge and burn techniques... including a technique I developed over the past several years I call "Light Bleed."

Learn this highly sought after technique easily on your own time from the originator of the style!

The video is for sale on www.ryandyarphotography.com
