There's a poll for a group buy for a Symbolics Space Cadet-like keyset for Cherry keyswitch keyboards here. It'd be great if more people would sign up so this could get manufactured and sold!

For those who don't know, the Space Cadet keyboard was the original "Emacs keyboard" -- it was the keyboard on the Symbolics Lisp machines, and its super/hyper/meta keys inspired the Emacs keybindings we all live with still.

This would be a great keyboard for Emacs users.

My brother and I are putting in about 10 100 foot vineyard trellis rows this weekend and staking a bunch of apple trees which means putting in about 30 8' 4" top cedar posts. The vineyard posts need to go in a 60 degree (from horizontal) angle. My question is; what's going to work out best for me: hand ("clamshell") posthole digger, rent one man hydraulic posthole auger, rent a skidsteer with a posthole auger, or hire a guy with a skidsteer to come do the work? It turns out the rental ends up being about same cost as hiring, though I could do other things with the skidsteer (moving big piles of dirt!) while it's here. Anybody have any advice?

So I've got a back area that I just had excavated and bulldozed to clear some junk and a whole bunch of sumacs there. I was thinking of planting the bare soil to a cover crop and was thinking of a mix of forage peas and oats to fix nitrogen, then mow and till that in in  later summer.

But then I was thinking about the wild rabbits that live back there, and I'm worried I'll be creating an explosion in the population of rabbits with all that feed for them. And then what happens to my garden (I am fencing it, but still), tree sapplings, etc. after the legume buffet is over?

Dress like an animal day at the Royal Botanical Garden's nature camps my kids are attending. Kids dressed like animals we have on our property -- Freya is a cardinal and Leif is a four spotted sap beetle (that is decimating our strawberry row...)

Ran over my poor new American Hazelnut tree saplings with the mower by accident. They were about 2-3 feet, planted this spring from bare root, and just starting to push leaves.  Any chance they'll push new shoots, or are they goners?

I'm with +Kevin Fairchild and +Stephen Downing ... don't give up on them. Keep an eye on them and keep them protected. It's all about the roots and how established they are.

Put in vineyard posts, seeded garden, planted about 40 tomatoes, 30 peppers, 75 strawberries, 25 raspberries, two rows of corn (sweet and popcorn), beans, carrots, and okra. Pictures here are mostly of putting in the vineyard posts. Previous week saw 10 fruit/nut trees planted. Next week: 100 grape vines.

I went last year.  It was held at a beautiful farm in Rhode Island.  Well worth the trip, entry price, and day spent learning, mixing, and buying awesome stuff.  There were plant, clothing, herb, honey, and all kinds of vendors, and the food truck rocked.
