Every day for the next 12 days I will be introducing you to our 12 group show artists here at the Ryan Ao Media Studio & Gallery for the Street Photography theme (as well as fine artists being displayed in Constance's healing space). I am also going to introduce the next month's solo show artist on the final day of this series smile emoticon For todays introduction meet Ben Z Mund Photography. His art is a unique twist on the traditional definition of street photography in that he does posed shots often with strobe lights all in a humorous way depicting Lewis and Clark "rediscovering Oregon". He's selling the whole series of 15 images in a 2015 calendar so if you haven't got your wall calendar for this year yet come get one! They are only $20 and filled with hilarious and interesting PDX and general dates to remember and interesting milestone dates of Lewis and Clark's journey. Here's his artist statement:
"I’m a commercial lifestyle and sportswear photographer based in Portland, Oregon. My client base is mostly Nike, Accor, WebMD, and Freight Liner. I also work with fashion designers such as, Michelle Lesniak and Oscar Mendoza. My true creative inspiration comes from street photography. Pushing my comfort level and daring to put myself in possibly embarrassing situations in my street photography inspires creativity in my professional work.
Xander (Meriwether Lewis) and I became friends a few years ago at a group shoot organized by the PDX Strobist group on Flickr. Over whiskey one day we came up with an idea to shoot Lewis and Clark posing like you see them on so many road signs, Lewis is pointing off into the distance as if saying “Pull my finger, Clark.”
After some trial shots, we found that pose to be somewhat limited and It was much more interesting to see involvement; for Lewis and Clark to have interaction with people and places, to meet the “natives.” Lewis and Clark began exploring Portland as it is now.
Lucky for me, Xander and Alex (Clark) are natural beguilers. In fact, some of our best ideas came from interacting with our characters on location. For example; I had originally drawn an art board for Lewis and Clark Go Bear Hunting to be more of a bar fight but then Marlin, one of our “bears”, suggested he take his shirt off and play dead for us— way better."

It brings me so much joy to see that the my old space the Ryan Ao Media Studio and Gallery and Constance Ao Healing and Massage space in Marvel 29 at the base of the St. Johns bridge in Portland, OR has been replaced by an amazing business, (very in line with our visions for the space), Cathedral Park Salon! Taylor Mathes has a grand vision for this space which includes a "green space" living wall, beautiful modern wood and metal interior decorating, pet friendly, complimentary wine, teas, coffee, and more served to you at the chair, and not to mention he is incredibly artistic and talented with hair!!! he is a stylist that specializes in mens hair (Currently priced at $30, and womens hair (currently priced at $50) and add ons of color, treatments, shampoos, and more. He's got a selection of high end products available for sale as well. So get your hair styled like a celebrity and make your way over to this new and invigorating space literally right next to the St. Johns bridge and Cathedral Park! My haircut felt so invigorating right way, i loved the look of it, and he is the stylist i've been looking for that I will be coming back monthly now instead of going to my old barber.

wow! What an incredible experience. Not only did Greg work with our low credit score with derogs and STILL get us a loan for the cheapest car in his lot, but the car needed some things fixed, and even though the car deal was signed off as "as is" Greg paid for all the work and it wasn't cheap! He even pushed hard on the mechanics to get the work done in a timely manner and they did! We would highly recommend the team at Quality Auto of Casper because not only do they have top notch cars, at really affordable prices, but their customer service and truly genuine authentic caring attitudes, make me enjoy doing business with them like it was the 1950's again! Thank you Quality Auto!

Jim the owner was very helpful, honest, and got me exactly what I needed and didn't try to upsell me at all. The mechanic who worked on my car was even nice enough to answer some questions about my brake pads since I didn't know much about my car and how it was set up. The mechanic told me honestly how soon i needed another brake check and it was all surprisingly good news (not needing another 1 for up to a year!). so they are a great shop in my book! thanks Madison Auto!
