The Vital MTB website recently reviewed the new Glory Advanced 27.5 downhill bike, giving the bike 4 out of 5 stars in a rigorous review, which spanned a period of three months. The Glory features the same frameset raced by the World Cup downhill racers in the Giant Factory Off-Road Team and Vital MTB concluded:

“Overall, the Glory is a great option for those looking for a high-end race machine or simply a fun, fast, and quiet ride for the bike park … an absolute joy to ride.”

It’s the time of year again when it’s often dark, wet and altogether a bit drab outside. But, fear of the dark shouldn’t keep you from getting out and enjoying the liberating experience of riding under the moonlight. We asked four members of our staff who ride rain or shine, how they keep going whilst the sun’s sleeping.

Last month Giant announced that we would see a brand new TCR for 2016, which was promised to be lighter, stiffer and more efficient than the previous model - in fact, Giant claim it is the ‘Total Race Bike’. This launch didn’t really come as a huge surprise considering the Giant-Alpecin team have already been riding the bike for some time. It was the bike that Simon Geschke rode to victory on the mountainous stage 18 of this year’s Tour de France, and whilst many of Geschke's team-mates preferred the Propel, Geschke utilised the lightest ever frameset produced by Giant to full effect - flying up the steep climbs and attacking down the twisting descents.

For some, the thought of a turbo trainer fills them with dread, but it’s a great way to sneak in some quick interval training or settle down for a calorie burning plod when it is sheeting it down outside. Let’s be honest, it’s not exactly the same thrill as riding a bike, but anything that removes the mental and physical obstacles of winter and gets your bum on a saddle has got to be a good thing. Right?

Sun is so last season and we're now getting excited about layering up for the first time in ages. There's something special about those frosty starts on the daily commute, or misty ascents in the peaks, and we're all geared up to fully embrace the worst of the winter weather. The number of layers out there is often a little overwhelming, so we've pulled together 15 essential layers that will help you keep warm and dry as the cooler weather starts to set in.

On the 24th and 25th October, to help us celebrate the opening of our new store in Peterborough, we were thrilled that 2004 Paris-Roubaix winner Magnus Backstedt and recently crowned UCI Enduro World Series Champion, Tracy Moseley will came and joined us for a weekend of fun... Not only that but we even persuaded Big Maggy to lead a Ride Out!

Back in 2010, Scott introduced the Foil, as their aerodynamic road bike and it has since gone on to win 15 Grand Tour stage wins and three Classics. Regardless of whether you’re competing, chasing a Strava segment, or taking on your friends in a sprint for the nearest café, the Foil is a bike built for those striving to win.

We’ve teamed up with Frog for yet another amazing completion to win a fabulous Kids’ Frog bike.

The Frog range of bikes were born out of the desire of one couple who wanted to see high quality, child-specific bikes. The Frog mountain and hybrid range are the most popular kids’ bikes that we sell, and the Frog road series deliver everything that we have come to expect of Frog bikes.

Came to look at bikes on Friday, guy with the ponytail was extremely helpful and knowledgable, as he has been before whilst browsing. One of the best things about the place is staff don't pester you one after another like in other bike shops. Thought about which bike I wanted overnight and ordered first thing in the morning. An hour later I was called to discuss collection and my bike was ready the next morning. It's quite a trek to the shop, Evans is close by and could have price matched but chose this place, glad I did.

My wife and I were looking to upgrade our bikes and to spend quite a bit of money on this. We visited may cycle shops in the midlands and by far the best advice and guidance we got was from Rutland Cycling at Whitwell. We ordered 2 Specialized bikes and they were ordered from the supplier and ready for us within a few days. The setting up of the bikes was the best we have experienced and we were offered some good discount on accessories. All in all an excellent experience and guidance from knowledgeable staff who all gave great customer service. Highly recommended

Dreadful customer service. They cancelled my order after two days of me paying in full for a new bicycle with a perfectly fine credit card and then sold the item in question to anther buyer leaving me with empty hands. They then failed to provide me with an equeivent product for the same price when I asked. Do not shop at Rutland Cycling - there are enough other online bicycle stores.

I have bought through Rutland four times. On the plus side their store is convenient for my home. They are very expensive though (as an example an edge 1000 I just bought to replace my broken one was over £100 more expensive). Service levels in the shop are always poor and their online service is very slow. There are much better bike shops within a 30 min drive and far cheaper options online.

Friendly, knowledgeable sales staff in store. We bought an ex-hire bike and 20 minutes later, after being checked over in the workshop, we were able to ride away on it. Negative reviews on here appear to be related to online ordering, the in store experience was fine.

I'm not one to complain, but I ordered a bike which only after the sale had processed was I informed that the bike was no longer in stock. When i found out about their error they asked me how i would like to proceed as there was nothing in my budget, I have asked them to match an offer for a bike from another site which rutland also sell but at a much more expensive cost so we will see how that goes but I have to say i've been disappointed with the service up to this point.
