With Google Authorship, the past is not always the best guide to the future - but knowing where we have come from helps us see the direction of travel.

What did you last check your Google Authorship rich snippets in Google Webmaster Tools?
Google is going after websites that misuse structured data markup. The new penalty affects websites that violate Google's rich snippets guidelines, such as including authorship on home pages and reviews on pages where there are no reviews.

I have a question...  -

Many small releases or periodic multi-featured releases?

What are your preferences when it comes to making new releases of your plugin? You may make half a dozen small changes during a month so how do you release that functionality?  A point release for each change? Or one update with all the changes at the end of the month? (This assumes there are no major bug fixes required as your code is flawless :-)

I would welcome other developers' thoughts on this, giving that promoting the plugin is a requirement and each release gives you an excuse to write another blog post...

Taking the unanimous advice making of many minor updates. Yesterdy I released Footer Putter 1.8 with just 2 new features:  an option to use HTML5 microdata for Organization details in the Footer Copyright widget, and an option to apply rel=nofollow automatically to footer trademark links - http://wordpress.org/plugins/footer-putter/

A question on HTML5 microdata: what are the SEO benefits, if any, of marking up your business location and contact information in  the site footer, with Organization, Place, Postal Address and Geo-coordinates schemas?  https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/146861
<div class="lightbulb"><strong>New!</strong> <a href="http://schema.org">schema.org</a> lets you mark up a much wider range of item types on your pages, using a vocabulary that Google, Microsoft, and

Hi Gina, If you would like to post the URL of the post then we could look at the markup. Typically, in this case, there are multiple declarations of the author and Google just picks one.

For example, there might be a <link rel=author in the head section, an <a rel=author in the post byline and another <a rel=author in the Author Box/Avatar.

By looking at the page instead and it the Google Structured Data Test Tool all should become clear

Hi All, I just published a blog article on my company website written by a guest author and Google indexed the article almost immediately but with my rich snippet instead of the author's.

I looked at the other articles we've published of his and it turns out I'm listed as the author of all but one out of four which has no author attribution: "Why Google Plus Is Still In The Early Adopter Phase". (Ironically and oddly, listed above your article +Mark Traphagen in the top position).

Has anyone ever figured out a way to remedy this? I feel bad about it. If anyone has any thoughts. I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm imagining it's one of those "out of our control" kinds of things, but thought it would be worth asking...Thanks!!!
