Ignoring, for a minute, the fact the guy is a cretin, 'behaviour tsar' is a very ominous sounding title.

Unsurprising, still shitty.

I've been using the new MacBook Pro 15" (yeah, that one with a screen on the keyboard) for a few days. Early impressions:

- The keyboard isn't bad. It's much better than the one on the 12" MacBook and not a great deal worse than previous MacBook Pro keyboards. It is quite clicky, with a distinctive sound that reminds me of the keyboards in the movie Hackers. I dislike the arrow keys because the left and right arrows are full height while up and down are half height but I guess I'll get used to it. ESC took a couple of hours to get used to, particularly not having any feedback that you pressed it and the fact that you can't reach for it without accidentally pressing it.

- The TouchBar is interesting. It looks nice, it works well and it responds quickly but so far I haven't found it particularly useful. Having the debugger functions (step over, step in, etc.) while Xcode is running is nice and having a Screen Lock button in the Control Strip is useful. This might get better over time as more apps support it and I get used to what it can do.

- TouchID is great. It works quickly and reliably and unlocking my screen with it is enough to justify having it. That 1Password uses it too is icing on the cake. Also, the API for it is absurdly easy to use, I made a PAM module for doing sudo via TouchID in 15 minutes.

- It looks nice in space gray. It is pretty light. Build quality is superb.

- The trackpad is stupidly big. It's an Apple trackpad, so of course it's better than any other trackpad but I've still noticed it catching bad input once or twice because it's almost impossible to not be touching it.

- USB-C dongles are going to get annoying real fast. Going with USB-C was the right thing to do and having 4 ports that can all charge or drive a screen or whatever is nice but just having a couple of USB-A ports would have made life so much easier.
