Double Fine just announced that they are developing a full version of one of their finest Amnesia Fortnight prototypes - Zelda-esque "hacking" game. I'm pretty sure this website is the start of an ARG too: clicking on the image prompts the download of a 12.4MB ".zip.jpg" file. http://www.hacknslashthegame.com/

+Jim deVos Excellent! I rarely actually play ARGs, but they're a blast to follow. I went to a talk a month or two ago about the Portal 2 ARG that was great fun.

Hey Washington archys: might I see any of you at the upcoming Redford Conference in Archaeology? It's nearby, the registration fee is small, and the topic (imho) is fascinating!

Street View integration with Google Earth has really become amazing: zoom in far enough and the view automatically transitions.
Google Maps with Street View lets you explore places around the world through 360-degree, panoramic, and street-level imagery. You can check out restaurants, plan your next trip or even visit the Swis...

That's the plan: make data about the past more preservable, accessible, and ready to be analyzed. 😀

Woohoo! After futzing around for a bit on my own, +Brian Ballsun-Stanton swooped in and together we got the FAIMS server running on my machine! Now, the FAIMS data recorder app automagically finds the server on my network and I can sync data back and forth to my heart's content. Thanks Brian!  #archaeology

I've signed the petition because I believe wider access to research articles is, in most cases, only a good thing. There's obvious caveats for sensitive information: cultural, personal, medical. What are your thoughts on mandated public access? What should an open access requirement look like?

Story
Introduction
I am an Digital Archaeologist focused on software education and the dissemination and archival of digital archaeological information.

I believe that wider understanding of software tools and better data organization allows archaeologists to conduct broad scale analyses, increase access to data, and preserve data from archaeological sites forever. To that end, I advocate for and share with colleagues software techniques and data organization tips everywhere I work, with an emphasis on giving them skills for increasing efficiency and making best use of data.
