Help with home network
I am using Windows Home Server on an HP Mediasmart server. The server has 4 HD that hold family photos, ripped music, movies and user files. The setup works very well and I can successfully use the network from all my desktops and laptops in my home.
I recently bought an Acer C270 chromebook and I'm very pleased with it.

I need suggestions on what app/extension to use to access my server files using the chromebook.

It basically installs minimal other Linux distribution on the side which handles the sharing via FUSE. 

There seems to be some way to get web access to your server.

Need help for my advanced science kids

My two colleagues and I are conducting an enrichment class with 36 advanced science students in a middle school located in Burlington County, NJ.  This advance group has been given the task of selecting and researching 36 topics that are on the far reaches of science. The topics were chosen by our students. We are calling this endeavor “Futurescape”. Each of the topics or themes is almost science fiction or firmly rooted in science fiction. Our premise is that from the dreams and writings of various science fiction writers came the kernels of real science. Some of the topics are firmly rooted in the present but their fulfillment hopefully lies in the future.

The principal final product or outcome of this class is the creation of a Learning Center for our “FutureScape Expo” which happens on April 1. The Learning Center will contain the results of their findings and research.

Our students have been given the assignment of contacting scientists, researchers, and/or engineers that might have some knowledge and feedback that could be passed on to our students in the form of an interview, a Skype session, perhaps some additional background information, ideas, and possibly some materials that are related to the topics the students have chosen. 

The inclusion and contributions of working professionals from the various scientific fields will be the “icing on the cake”, so to speak.
Needless to say, there is a possibility that this class might have some influence on the future of science education. 

If there is anyone who frequents this circle of science related areas can lend a hand or point our kids in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for a galaxy nexus dual usb charger desktop dock. Will dual usb chargers that work for the nexus 4 and/or galaxy nexus i9250 work with my galaxy nexus (verizon -i515)??? Can't seem to find any desktop dual chargers for the verizon galaxy nexus. Dual,  meaning the dock will charge the phone and a spare battery. Any links will be appreciated - thanks

R.A.M Heads
Advanced  Leg prosthetic for injured people who don’t have a “stump” of a leg.  Using sensors and tracking electronic brainwaves, will create a leg which will function just like a normal leg.  Only for one leg and also able to kick, run etc.

Southampton Scientists
 Whole Brain Emulation or ‘’mind uploading’’ is the process of transferring a conscious mind from a brain to a non-biological being by scanning the brain and copying it’s information and putting it into another being.  Scientists are predicting this technology to be created by 2045. 

2 Brunettes and 1 Blonde
 Human Colonization on Mars.  There are ten steps to make this happen. The first step is the planning of this journey, which started in 2011. The second step is the selection of the crew to come aboard to Mars, and never return to Earth, which took place in 2013. The third step is the crew training, which will begin next year (its similar to the Training Center in the Hunger Games, except the place is built to look like Mars). The fourth is the demo mission in 2018, or when robots will be sent out to test the environment on mars, to see if it is livable for humans). The fifth is the rover mission launch two years later, and the cargo mission launch, and the outpost mission wll launch in 2022. Finally, the humans will be launched to mars in groups of 4 (2 females, 2 males), in 2024. Two years later they will land on mars, and two years after that the next crew will be launched, so on and so forth.

Time Travelers
 Time travel into the future. There are several theories on whether time travel actually can exist and how time travel would be possible if it were accomplishable.  However, out of all the theories I’ve discovered with Esther, the most realistic and interesting of these theories is that the mass of an object and gravitational force slows down time.  If this theory were true, spending time around a black hole would be at least half as fast as the Earth’s time, meaning spending five years near a black hole, around ten years would have passed by on Earth, and the time being spent drinking a cup of coffee near a black hole, an entire Earth empire could fall, possibly even several empires.  Therefore, being near a black hole, which has both a large mass and a large gravitational pull, can lead to time travel.  To be able to reach a black hole and travel to the future, though, you would need something that travels close to the speed of light, and since nothing is able to travel as fast as or faster than the speed of light yet, to reach a black hole, you would need to use a wormhole.  Wormholes are able to connect together different places throughout the universe, therefore causing someone to be able to reach a black hole.  In order to be able to travel through a wormhole, they would need to be better stabilized.  Stephen Hawking believes that there


Future Foodies
Our topic is 3D food printing. This technology already exists in the form of the company Chocabyte who produces chocolate through a printer and chocolate cartridges. Our project will be based on improving the technology by seeing if it could be used in space and eventually be readily available in grocery stores to be used in homes. We will research and attempt to contact Chocabyte in order to gain more information and brainstorm how to advance the technology.

Extinct Elephants 
Our topic is bringing back extinct species and keeping the animals alive. This could give us a chance to turn back the clock on animal species that have decreased or disappeared through pollution or overhunting.   On the other hand, we would be dangerously tipping the scales to the ecosystem, which could lead to more and more problems.  Right now technology has been able to bring back certain species through frozen tissue, but scientists have never been able to keep the animal alive long enough to live out a normal length of time. We plan to look at how far technology is coming and if this could be a successful solution to the population problems among animals in the long run.


The Living Dead
Our topic is bringing back extinct animals from years ago. This was attempted in 2003 and succeeded for about 10 minutes. The basic background of this is cloning. They were able to bring back a Bucardo goat by tracking and monitoring the last available one until death. They allowed her to roam freely until she died. Scientists took a cell from her and were able to produce an exact copy of her. At birth her clone was having difficulty breathing and died 10 minutes later. We plan to study more into this topic based on our current knowledge of it and find out if it is possible in the future. 

TEAM GLyM EVENSBERTSBURG
Our topic is engineering wormholes to make time travel possible. A wormhole is a theoretical passage through space and tome that connects two different points. Wormholes can connect two different universes. Wormholes are predicted to exist on microscopic levels, but they can be stretched to larger sizes.

HOLOGRAPHIC HIPPOS
Our topic is the holographic phone.

I have a 2GB Acer C720 Chromebook. I bought a Gigabyte Bluetooth Mouse and the mouse is not recognized by the Acer. Does the Acer support bluetooth mice?

Try restarting the Chromebook with the mouse on. It might recognize the mouse as it comes on.

Tech Q/A  - 
 
I would like to root my nexus, but I don't want to go down a unreliable road. I want the phone to work! I understand there are several steps to perform, with the possibility of bricking the phone, not being able to receive newer updates, and perhaps other issues that I'm not aware of. Is there a one-click root program that is reliable?

Yeah, get the Nexus Toolkit. It is the easiest root experience I've ever had...almost as easy as a 1 click. This phone was made to be rooted! It's practically impossible to brick a device. When I got the original Moto Droid, I was a tech idiot. I had no idea about anything, but I can follow directions very well. So I rooted it, and never looked back! I have since rooted my HTC Thunderbolt, Kindle Fire, my wife's GNex, and my GNex. Read the forums on XDA and RootzWiki. Rooting increases the phones functionality by unlocking features that are blocked by carriers etc... The developers are amazing, and usually pretty accessible (however they don't like questions that can be answered by reading the forums!).
