Hi Rui,

Can you help with the following queries with reference to this ESP8266 project please?

Basically the file with the modified WiFi settings fails to be sent to several ESP8266 devices that I've tried to upload to and there's either a timeout error message or the software seems to get stuck in the uploading stage. At a guess it's not uploading anything.

I'm confused as I've left all of the ESP8266 devices that I've tried hardwired as per the following diagram but does this diagram refer to how an ESP8266 should be hardwired to a FTDI USB to TTL 3.3v programmer for flashing only and not for programming with your own software files?

Diagram:

http://i1.wp.com/randomnerdtutorials.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/ESP8266-Flasher.png

The firmware seems to flash okay but immediately afterwards (9 times out of 10) the COM port disappears and won't re-connect unless the attached ESP8266 is removed.

The same issue has occurred with several ESP8266 devices that I've tried.

With regards to an FTDI USB to TTL 3.3v programmer can you confirm that this is just a means of providing a 'virtual' COM Port via USB and is not specifically a 'programmer' please?

Tried using two FTDI and one Prolific chipset USB to TTL Adapter without avail.

Would like to add that I've made sure all of the ESP8266 devices that I've tried have been hooked up to 3.3v only and not 5v.

Thank you.
